Let me put it this way because I see the disconnect is in our fundamental upbringing:

12 years ago I did not associate and/or support openly racist white people.

When I was a child I did not associate and/or support openly racist white people.

I understand that is hard for some "individuals" to fathom, but I grew up in a family where problackness and knowledge of self was not only the norm but expected.

So to answer your question, no I am not the same person I was 12 years ago. But the person I was then knew better than to empower ostensible white imperialism.
