Oh and I'm black but I'm not obsessed with race. Can you tell us with your great intellect, which skits were Neal's and which ones were Dave's? Please break it down for us.
I don't have the same intellect as you do.
Dave Chappelle's signature has always been race relations. This has been true since the beginning of his career until his last comedy special. It's obvious the best skits (with race as the theme) were mostly Dave. The only funny skit Neal contributed on was the black white supremacist skit, and even that was mostly Chappelle. I'll give you a break down of his best skits:
Racial Draft: Had to be all Chappelle.
Black White Supremacist: Chappelle and Neal (the only skit that was great that Neal contributed on)
Wayne Brady is a Thug: Chappelle and Wayne Brady. Don't believe Neal contributed if much at all.
nikkar Family: Mostly Chappelle with Neal input.
Real Hollywood Stories (Rick James and Prince): Chappelle and Charlie Murphy. Don't believe Neal contributed much if at all.
Paul Mooney monologues and contributions: All Paul Mooney by Chappelle's request.
Lil John skits: All Chappelle.
So as you can see, it's easy to decipher who was involved in what and who was most responsible for each skit. The greatest skits and what made Chappelle show what it is had nothing to do with Neal's style of writing or contributions. I would argue Charlie Murphy was more impactful for the success of Chappelle's Show than Neal was. CS most popular skit was based on Charlie Murphy's ideas. Neal only contributed to one great skit on the first episode, which I give him credit for. It's also possible he contributed to 'nikkar Family' as well as it fits each of their styles. All the other great skits that I mentioned that made CS one of the greatest sketch comedy shows of all time, had nothing to do with Neal. I believe Neal contributed to the inevitable skit that made Chappelle quit as well-- that fits his style too.
