I love Neal, really good comedian, but even better mind.

Just listened to the last ever Champs podcast and I'm gonna miss the conversations they had.

Moshe was right, there are more black podcasts, but there aren't too many people having the type of conversation they used to have with guests.

I highly recommend people listen to their last ever ep with ?uestlove, he shows up for the last hour, but the whole thing is worth a listen.

Neal seems like a naturally funny dude. dope interview.

Lol white folks.

The interview was cool but he didn't make me laugh or chuckle once. He had nice quips and slick/sarcastic remarks but nothing that would make me want to go to his shows or anything like that. I'm convinced he helped out with Chappelle Show but that was mostly Chappelle's mind, I don't care what cacs try to say. Chappelle has made me laugh in interviews, tv/movies, and comedy shows. They are in two different stratospheres.

Neal wrote Top 5 with Chris Rock, and it was a terribly unfunny movie. Only one decent scene in the whole movie but that was because it was over the top
(groupie scene).
Half baked was good as a weed movie only and Chappelle carried it.

I respect his hustle and connections but he's not all that talented IMO.

Respectfully, I disagree with everything you just typed lol

And he didn't co-write Top Five, he just did "punch-up" on it like comics sometimes do ie. he comes on set and as they film if he thinks of something funnier between takes he suggests it and they try that.

To say that he "helped out" on Chappelle's Show is like saying Larry David "helped out" on Seinfeld. Just because he wasn't the person saying the jokes, doesn't mean he didn't write a lot of the material, especially given that he also directed and sat in the edit room for 90%+ of the sketches.

If you listen to his podcast, and catch him in interviews like this, you'd actually be able to tell that his viewpoint was an integral part of Chappelle's Show and he was way more than a "helper", it was both of their brainchild.

Like I said, he was terrible. Obviously Neal isn't green to the game, he had enough input to mention it in the interview, and the results speak for themselves. Terribly unfunny movie and Chris' worst.

As I already explained, Neal obviously doesn't have the juice. Chappelle's Show was by and large Dave Chappelle's baby and it sank or swam on his orders. I don't believe anything funny about that show had anything to do with Neal. DC is funny on his own and does comedy in a way that coincides with the way Chappelle's Show went. Neal is just snarky and sarcastic, with occasional wit, but definitely not comedically talented enough to give him all the credit for Chappelle's Show that cacs are giving him.

Bullshyt. Half of the sketches don't make sense coming from a cac mind. A reverse real world sketch with a cac surrounded by blacks? Had to be all Chappelle. Blacks in general were talking about that very idea in barbershop talk all over America and Dave was our voice to see it in action. Neal is just cacs feel good story so they have an excuse not to credit a black person (Dave Chappelle) for doing something on an amazing level.

Guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.

really gonna miss the champs man, imo the best podcast i've ever listened to

I understand why neal wanted to end it but it is a shame they didn't upload podcasts more regularly this past year .. would have loved to hear their thoughts on trump, bernie, #oscarssowhite, police, flint, and all of the racial strife
