That’s fair.
What I will say is that the brehs who point out the health issues aren’t the same brehs who make it clear they want you to have straight hair.
I once had a brotha tell me to my face that if someone doesn’t have “good hair” she needs to get a relaxer because he can’t deal with natural hair.
I also had a random older man tell me and another woman that the reason why BM wanted to marry Native American women after slavery ended was because they didn’t want to deal with the “hair issue”— meaning be with a woman with kinky, harder to manage hair.

She got visibly upset, but at that point I had already dealt with brothas who made comments about mixed hair, lighter skin, etc so he didn’t get under my skin.
Interactions with men like that weigh on Black women’s self esteem because a man who is literally your reflection —with your same dark complexion and hair texture— is looking you in the eye telling you that you’re less than.
