Thankfully, relaxers are less popular now than they used to be. And yes, most of us got out first relaxers at very young ages and didn't know anything different until the natural hair movement.
I really don’t like how some brehs approach this topic because many of you don’t acknowledge the way white society treats Blackness and black HAIR. Black women have been discriminated against because of our natural hair. Some of our men have made it clear they prefer “looser hair” and women have tried to fit that look with chemical relaxers. I mean, brehs treat me differently when my hair is in braids VS out and straightened, and EVERY Black woman will tell you that. Are they killing us or are black women killing themselves with internalized self hate? How many will stop using these chemicals to straighten their hair even after knowing how dangerous they are?

Exactly. Hell, black men used to straighten their hair, too. It is what it is. Now that we know better, we can do better. What you are saying is true and all, but there is a caveat. There are plenty of Sisters who tell Brothers we need to stay out of their business when it comes to issues like hair, eyelashes, etc. So they can't out of one side of their mouth say they do it because of the way we treat them when they don't, but then out of the other side tell us to shut up when we speak out against the very thing they say they do because they believe we like it.I really don’t like how some brehs approach this topic because many of you don’t acknowledge the way white society treats Blackness and black HAIR. Actually, I have seen some right on this site make statements trying to correlate natural hair with negativity in Black women. Outside in the real world, the evidence is abundant that their are brothers who prefer straightened hair, but in 2022 I am pretty sure many brothers are seeing that our sisters actually look so much more beautiful with their hair in natural styles.Come on sis,
‘White society’, ‘Our men’ isn’t it
It’s your hair you can do what you want with it, especially in 2022
Also I’ve never heard a black man say he prefer straight hair on black women in my life. Not once

You are right, since I can't pull up a study on this issue to support my statement. This is vague bro,
But I know the statements you’re talking about they say black women with natural hair are more likely to date other races. We’re not talking about interracial relationships, we’re talking about black people
You can’t say evidence is abundant and not provide any

The shock at the chemist when Rock told him that black folks put sodium hydroxide in their hair to straighten it.
Chemist: "Why would they do that?"
Rock: "To look white."
