Man i went to a Grizzlies game on Sunday and the only thing they were playing was hip-hop. Not even this pop ass hip-hop we have today, they played Ghostface Killa - Daytona 500, Gza - Liquid Swords, Mystikal - Here I Go, etc... Plus as someone else said they used Shook Ones Part 2 in a promo during the playoffs.

I dont see what the big deal is with this and the NBA. The NBA is about entertainment and all those pregame rituals are entertaining to the fans.

:snoop:

You nikkas are not getting what I'm saying. Arenas can do whatever they want. They have DJs, their own entertainment dept, etc. I'm talking big time marketing like commercials and shyt. I'm just saying at half time shows or those heavily produced intros, you rarely see a hip-hop artist. It's almost always rock music or some other corny shyt.

So they used the Shook Ones instrumental one time for 15 seconds in a playoffs promo and all of a sudden these cacs who run the NBA are down with hip-hop? :usure:

:wow: you nikkas are ridiculous. Your counter arguments are literally one brief promo ad and now apparently it means the NBA has a love affair with hip hop.

They don't. You almost never hear hip-hop at all by official marketers and that's my point. They are trying to white wash and make the game safe for everybody. I wanna see my nikkas free to rock FUBU again, I wanna see them let my nikkas spit bars when they walk into the parking garage to the locker room, I wanna see my nikkas allowed to rock the platinum chain and blast stunna songs when they step out of the six-fifty chariot.

Look at NBA TV for example. They got rid of Gary Payton just because he was a real nikka and he was entertaining. There was nothing wrong with his analysis whatsoever, he just didn't tap dance enough for the demonic cacs who run the league.

:wow: like that isn't a big part of hip-hop? Stunting and look fly? Don't put words in my mouth b. #pause :merchant:

This has nothing to do with black or white, this has to do with a certain culture that is strongly linked with the game being purposely excluded.

while entertaining that shyt does take forever. 90 seconds is plenty for 'rituals' and handshakes. you can even assemble a gymnastic pyramid if you really want to in that time period.

how is this 'cism tho ? why are we projecting the fact that nba players are mostly black to criticize ANY move by the league as directed at race ?

Because when one asks themselves why they're manufacturing a problem seeing displays of, lets be real...."things deemed blackness," where there was no problem at all, you look at their past history and you see an obvious trend.

At any rate, cats like Durant and Westbrook dress like a lot of rappers I see nowadays. Bunch of hip-hop artists below, even J Cole before he really blew up.

:pachaha: nikka don't use this Alicia Keys vid or Pitbull. I wish they did more of the Drake or Kanye shyt, but they're safer with R&B singers and pop stars.

The shyt at last year's all-star game is pure trash. That was as much hip-hop as a Bob Dylan song.

you got a point there, but still too many assumptions imo. I didnt think handshakes or silly shyt bron does are 'deemed blackness'...

with that said, I agree that it's unclear what was really the problem to them. as a fan, I think theyre too long, but its not like pro leagues care about fans over money. the league should love it because it should bring more $ for more airtime or something like that.

so yeah I guess can see it from that perspective. still think its got a lot of grey area..unlike the dress code thing, which was clearcut.

Even though it had gotten kind of out hand this is another sign that David Stern needs to retire. Stop taking all the fun out of sports and let these grown ass men be clowns on the sidelines if that's what they wanna do. I hope that next commisioner is actually someone who played the game and can relate to today's players.

Eh, it ain't Mobb Deep and not my preferred taste, but it is Hip-Hop and reflective of the tastes of today's youth.:yeshrug:

shyt is not a race issue. Even if it is I don't care. If anything its annoying that these motherfukkers feel the need to police small shyt like this.

How about looking into policies that fine refs for making shyt calls on a repeated basis, or who fall for obvious flops and are swayed by crowd sentiment? Instead they worried about putting time limits on handshakes. :beli: FOH.

I agree with this 100%. But its grounded in race though.

Has anyone whos ever been to a game live complained about this stuff... And ironically these are the people the nba should cater to first, the people who BUY TICKETS and are at the game. The league just made an issue over a non problem... Fans eat that shyt up before the game starts, helps to get the crowd going
