Yeah basically. Those tournaments are filled with literal crosstown rivalries that have been going on for 100 years and more importantly all of the lower level teams are allowed to play. There's literally mechanics and farmers and shyt playing against top tier professionals. When an upset happens it's like...oh shyt....

I don't think the goal is to replace the NBA finals or have the players treat this trophy the same as winning a Larry O'Brien.
League just wants more eyeballs on the games during the regular season. Teams that make it to the SF & Finals in Vegas gonna care more than a random Friday night regular season game against Orlando. Fans will too.

Great reason to give bench/2 way/10 day players some shine.

All of them count as regular season games except the final if I'm not mistaken.
so if you make it to the final 8 and lose in the first game you getting nothing but an extra loss on your record? and will there be more than 82 games for these teams records?

Yeaaaaaaa they gonna have to up the ante for future iterations of the tournaments if thats ALL they’re offering.
They should guarantee each player $1 Million plus a guaranteed playoff spot for the winning team. Maybe something a little extra for whoever gets named tournament MVP (Are they even doing Tournament MVP?)
