NBA considering tournament style All-Star Game

These allstars are making $20+ million a year because of the fans, playing hard for one game should be something they want to do.

True but these cliches do nothing. Need to be more specific. All star games have NEVER been about shutdown defense. But there is a way to play competitively without going all out. Go watch any Rucker or drew league or lockout footage.

Bron ushered in the ‘we’re all best friends’ vibes. (And the all star game has become Bron centric with him picking teams). Steph is generally unserious and ushered in an offense-centric vibe. Giannis is silly and culturally different so no one goes him serious. Jokic, Embiid, Luka, all foreigners so even as best players we gonna lose a while era of leadership/voices. Ant and Ja might be able to reverse the tide

Also the league will never cancel the All-Star game as long as they keep making money from it. It's actually kinda crazy it's such a hard ask for guys to just give a tiny bit of effort. The NBA being a player's league while is a good thing for the players but the fact that we've gone so far in the direction of "Well the players don't want to do something that has been a tradition in the league since inception, so we should cancel it altogether" is insane to me, it's literally one fukking game .

Honestly, they're smarter than their predecessors. Why risk their health for a game that doesn't matter at all?

The All-Star Game was created as a way for fans to see all the league's stars in one place since back then you only saw most of them once or twice a year when they came to town. Most of the games were nationally televised back then. Now we have more national games, social media, and league pass. The all star game itself has no use anymore. Stop the nostalgia charades and get rid of the damn game.

Why risk your health against a bad team where your team doesn’t even need you out there to beat them?


Why risk your health on the road against a team you’re probably not beating regardless?

NBA players sit so often they made it so they can sit 17 games and still win awards. How many guys sat the first month of the season, looks like they see most of the regular season just like they do the all star game. The money is too good and guaranteed all the way around to care.
