NBA considering tournament style All-Star Game

I already think I mentioned this as an idea on here before.

But it was east vs west. Each squad has 4 different starting lineups that plays the whole quarter.
Kinda like a relay race where u gotta figure out how u want to start and finish.

The league will never cancel the weekend. It's an advertising hub for NBA related companies.

This is very much hockey-style.

I don't know how you make players play harder in an exhibition when the sport allows it to be casual but fun too. And1 open runs were entertaining even though they weren't dying on the court. The players just don't know how to do that cuz they ain't volunteering to be victims either on the court.

Just play east vs west! The all star game started spiraling when they did that player pick shyt and it became a Lebron-Giannis fest. There’s not enough OG’s or former players at the table to understand that you sap nggas motivation to play when what’s supposed to be your moment turns into you playing for team Lebron and the whole weekend becomes a Lebron/Giannis/Steph fest.

Just play east vs west and have whatever respected OG’s we have left (Jordan? ….Duncan?) talk to them and get them to play harder. That’s fukking it. Instead we have too many casual hands in the pot who want to curate every inch of the game for entertainment purposes. So every minor inconvenience they want a rule change to ‘fix’ it. Same thing in the NFL. ‘Aww that game was really fun it should never end let’s change OT rules’

Non athletes dont understand that mentality and that’s become the majority of the NBA execs and fans too

I wish they could keep the west East format but just add financial incentive for the winners . Make these dudes care about playing defense . They’re obviously not competitive like the generation before . so just incentivize it. This is another over-correction by Silver . He overreacts too much with the changes he’s been making .

They’ll never do it because of the network contracts, but they should just scrap the all star game on Sunday, and just focus on on the 3 Point Shooting Contest. That’s about the only thing that players take seriously now during All Star Weekend, so just make it a longer contest, with financial incentives for the 3 Point Contest winner. It keeps the players happy and competitive. Have the dunk contest and the skills challenge on Saturday night, and then just have the expanded 3 Point Shootout on Sunday night.

The All-Star Game was created as a way for fans to see all the league's stars in one place since back then you only saw most of them once or twice a year when they came to town. Most of the games were nationally televised back then. Now we have more national games, social media, and league pass. The all star game itself has no use anymore. Stop the nostalgia charades and get rid of the damn game.

You could see the seeds of it a few years ago in AAU games. instead of light defense you’d have guys getting out the way letting them do dunks. Those dudes are now the ones in the league
