It's the drums. I keep saying it, Nas raps to the drums. Give him slow or weak drums like on Nasir and you get slower flows that may be off beat depending on the production. Hard fast drums and you get classic Nas.

That snippet has hard drums that are up tempo, almost a breakbeat. Of course Nas was gonna float on that. It's god's plan.
:ohhh:

I'm am happy AF that Jay Z is nowhere near this project. The Lost Tapes is Nas' movement and its another feather in his cap, second in his career only to Illmatic. I'm sure Nas would prefer that it be all about him. The first Lost Tapes was all about Nas with no features I think and hope and all of them should be. Deep down inside, I'm sure there is a least a part of Nas that ain't happy that Jay dropped the day after NASIR. So, in the immortal words of Ether, "fukk Jay Z"! LOL

On the real though, if they work together, put it on a Jay Z album next time.

Use to love tinkering with his album track list and using b-sides, leaks to replace the tracks I thought were wack or didn't fit the his initial concept. Should be fun to go back and see if these new tracks would fit or not.

Lol I do that all the time too.

You sure Nas still feels away about jay and beyonce dropping at the same time or its just yall...cuz yall made it seem likes its beef and yet Nas comes out to Hov show like its all good. Plus hov and them had that release date planned since he and beyonce went on tour. They times it with their last european show date

For me, Jay has his place. I have most of his early albums (somewhere around here). He says some catchy and some clever lines and some tight beats, don't get me wrong, but he never spoke to me with the same type of realism and relevance as Nas did and still does. In almost every song from Illmatic to now, there is something that Nas spits that I swear I been through or can relate to. Nas shyt speaks to me. I always say it about Jay, but ain't nobody ballin like him. Nobody. "yellow wrist watch, Gucci flip flops, 20 top model chicks..." vs "planted in the ghetto where my nikkas can't read, multiple, subtract, only knowin how to count stacks..." Big difference.

Anyway, this is a Lost Tapes thread and I order my download and hoping I can get a CD for my collection.

Unless Jay and Nas have a personal issue on the low and this is why shyt like Tru Life and Swizz Beatz have songs with both of them on it but they won't come out.

Nas wasn't there when Jay got added to the respective Swizz and Just songs. They only songs they've released are the ones they were BOTH actually in the studio for. "Sinatra In The Sands" is the last confirmed real Jay Z and Nas collaboration.

"The Scientist" is a joint Nas never finished and the Swizz song was also a solo that didn't have a feature.
