I really think it's gonna largely be the album he worked on before Wyoming derailed everything. Swizz's comments just give me the sense that we'll hear the shyt they worked on for that album. He was also working with RZA right?

Personally I just doubt we'll get a bunch of 90s or early 00s era tracks. Nas has moved on. If anything we'll get a re-worked Scientist track with Hov...that's the only old track I expect.

I don't think it'll happen but if Nas was gonna empty the vaults I'd expect a double album that's half unreleased stuff from the past, and the other disc is the scrapped album from a couple years ago. Stevie Wonder kinda did something like that with his greatest hits album.

Ultimately I want all his music but I have to disagree. If Nas can use the the Def Jam tracks, I fully expect for him to put out the album (give or take some tracks) that he was going to put out when Def Jam blocked him from releasing the lost tapes 2? Why? Because why would you put out newer music, which is, musically, closer to whats poppin now as a unreleased compilation when you can just drop it as a new project? Especially when you already have a project with tracks that may sound a little dated musically but was meant for other projects and truly fits the idea of Lost Tapes. Nas can get 2-3 releases in the next 3 years and not write a thing if he drops Lost Tapes 2, followed by the "Nas Album Done" album and then another Lost tapes 3. If I were Nas and thinking of slowly getting way from the music, I would do it this way. I'd even consider identifying a nice anniversary time for either IWW or Stillmatic and proppin it us like they did Illmatic somewhere in the there. That way, he can take his usual 2-3 and more and write and record with no pressure then come out when he is ready.

I guess it depends on what his goal is. He's got Mass Appeal now, and surely there's going to be a need to release projects for his label. So your idea would certainly be good for them - Lost Tapes compilation, a Nas album (even if it's largely material from 2-3 years ago), etc. Good way to keep Nas' name out there, get some better festival placements, tours, etc. But I'm just wary of believing we're gonna get multiple Nas projects in a 2-3 year span, when his output has halted to a crawl since 2008.

I hope you're right, and daps for carrying the torch for Lost Tapes 2 so long. My hope would be to get a Lost Tapes 2 this year, and then the actual Nas Album Done album next year. That would be 2018, 2019, and 2020 each having a Nas album. Seems like good business for Mass Appeal. But I just can't get my hopes up.

The original Lost Tapes was essentially newer music. It even had new songs on it. Every song on it was music recorded from 1998-2002 and focused on sessions from his most recent albums.

"Nas Album Done" is pretty much fair game because that one album has gone through several iterations since he started working on it in 2012. So there's multiple sessions from just that one project that they could pull from.

There's also the fact that Nas records new music for Lost Tapes as evidenced by "Nothing Lasts Forever" and the fact that he recorded a song produced by Pete Rock for Lost Tapes 2.

It all depends on which era of Nas's career they will be compiling the songs from.

I want the late 90's material, early 2000's more than anything, even if it is is already released, and a few more unreleased tracks, much more than anything from the post 2010 era, though i think there are convincing lines of argument to support that it could easily be from fairly recent studio sessions, over the last 7 years or so. This could be the last album I really get excited for, the very end of an era. I never really discuss albums like this anymore, the ones upcoming. Anyone who spent all those early 2000's years on forums remember, we were so starved and so excited, we would obsess over the tracklist, people made fake ones, people analyzed 5 paragraph articles in MTV News, went in depth on a song title. This feels like a nod to that era.

This was always the case with Nas. I remember the rumors of Nas making a song from the perspective of a roach. When "Project Roach" popped up on Untitled after all those years of speculation about it, I was :ohhh::dwillhuh::what::gladbron::wow:.

I’ve always said I prefer the Nasty Nas so I’d prefer the remaining IWW, I am stuff first and foremost. True Dialect and even Understanding was Nas kickin that poetic street flow that was dope as fukk. I agree with your post seeing how I was one that was glued to those forums waiting to get CDQ versions of the mixtape shyt. Lol (Still waiting on no DJ version of Live from the Bridge). Honestly, ain’t no telling what we gonna get from Nas. He can go so many different directions with this project.

I think I remember hearing about Nothing Last Forever before the Lost Tapes so I don’t know if that was done for TLT. Maybe he completed it but I believe I saw a list of unreleased Nas on this site called Sound circuit back in the day. Everything on this list has come out except Kids from the projects,

People hear tracks and post about them long before they ever come out...and some songs never come out.

I saw fear of the black man's dikk talked about long before it leaked. The internet was talking about Street Riders by Game, Akon and Nas long before Game put it out.

There are some older tracks that have actually been heard and described in articles like Get Up and I am Somebody (I heard a snippet of this) and some that have just been mentioned like crabs in a barrel, White Man’s Paper, America’s top Brothel. Play on Playa was one that was saved from SD and later used for HHID. I want to hear all that shyt
