Anybody that paid attention to hip hop 10-15 years ago knew that Lupe was the next evolutionary step & the continuation of lyrical titan mainstream MC’s like Nas & Hov until Chilly & the FNF foundation fell, Atlantic Records sabotaged him, and he was black balled cuz of his political statements regarding Obama.

Not to say Lupe woulda became either one of those dudes because he wouldn’t have. But everybody knew, especially back then, how special of a talent he is.

Had to neg son for this fakkit shyt.

I don’t think it’s fair to compare lost tapes 2 to the first lost tapes because half the tracks on LT1 were heard by the public prior to LT1 dropping and were critically acclaimed already

dropping LT2 was a lot riskier imo

in terms of how it would be received by his fan base

I played LT2 on shuffle while at the gym yesterday and didn’t have to skip a track until like the 9th song

Which is rare for me these days

Great album

I went through the lost tapes 2 in full and honestly there is not one miss. Even Al jarreau of rap sounds better within the album. I'm still not sure why they chose to release an experimental song first. However, its grown on me. I'm actually fairly certain nobody is better than Nas.

"Highly Favored" and "Lost" Freestyle" are ridiculous! I love when Nas spits on some Don Diva shyt.

"No Good Energy," "Tanasia" and "The Art of It" are insane too. This is nothing like the original Lost Tapes but still a dope album.
