I am not riding for Jay. My thing is when people make statements like Jay would be some base legacy act if not for Beyonce, its laughable. Anybody that paid attention to hip hop 10-15 years ago knew that Lupe was the next evolutionary step & the continuation of lyrical titan mainstream MC’s like Nas & Hov until Chilly & the FNF foundation fell, Atlantic Records sabotaged him, and he was black balled cuz of his political statements regarding Obama.

Not to say Lupe woulda became either one of those dudes because he wouldn’t have. But everybody knew, especially back then, how special of a talent he is.
