I just realized tonight I was listening to the album out of sequence this whole time, smh, after 3 listens. The sequence the way they put it out makes the album sound weaker, imo. The first half of the album is like a 3.5 to me, being generous...the second half is close to perfect. First impressions are vital when it comes to albums, after that mediocre start it probably turned would-be supporters of the album off by the time they even got to the second half of the album.

Imagine if the album was just Track 9 to Track 16 on some "Illmatic" shyt. shyt woulda been a classic album of throwaways, think about that, :ohhh:

So no Lost Freestyle? No Bad Energy? Vernon Family?

Naw I’m good its great as is. Illmatic was twenty five years ago. On some “Illmatic shyt” is a lazy ass comparison in 2019

I was listening to Nas music today and remembering when Nas used to drop a street single first and follow that up with the lead single for the album. The streets single would sometimes not make the album but instead be a bonus track. He had the streets ready for Nasty Nas music then, with the lead single, he got the mainstream ready. Then the album would drop. I know this Lost Tapes was a whole different type of project and rollout that wouldn’t necessarily need this type of rollout but it makes me really miss the streets singles.

Yea he did that from Gods Son all the way up until Life Is Good. You could REALLY say he’s been doing that since I am.

I am- Nas Is Like (Street/Lyrical Single) Hate Me Now (Mainstream Single)

Nastradamus- Title Track (Lyrical single) You Owe Me (Mainstream single)

Stillmatic- Got Yourself A Gun (Street Single) One Mic ( ONLY Nas could make that type of track a mainstream single)

Gods Son- Made You Look (Street Single) I Can (Mainstream single)

Streets Disciple- Thief's Theme (Street Single) Bridging The Gap (Mainstream single)

Hip Hop Is Dead- Where Ya’ll At (Street Single) Can’t Forget About You (Mainstream single)

Untitled- Be A ****** Too (Street Single) Hero (Mainstream video)

Life Is Good- Nasty (Street single) Daughters & Cherry Wine (Mainstream single)

Nasir of course didn’t have any singles and Lost Tapes doesn’t unless you count Jarreau Of Rap, but I count singles and songs that have videos and label push.

When are these songs from. These are better then anything off his last 4 albums. Is it just the production? Nas is rapping on this shyt.

I wish Shahiem would’ve ask Nas if his (New) album really is done. I mean really. I’m sure he has 20 tracks locked and done but is he done like ready to drop it whenever he wants, done like He wants to wait and find one or two more good joints to put it over the top or done like I just have to add a few more vocals and wait for some samples to clear?

When did he put Nas Album Done out? When did The Season come out? He obviously pulled some Swizz and RZA tracks from that era and added them to Lost Tapes. I’m curious.
