I listen to it every few months
Who ya wit
Sunshine
City is mine
I kno what girls like
Lucky Me
Were some of Jay softest records ever imo
Imo Can I get A & Money Ain’t... were the only non street records on vol 2
Maybe street isn't the right word for what I'm trying to convey.
It felt like his greatest departure from traditional sample-based production.
Vol. 1 had soft songs (Who Ya Wit ain't one of them though
), but Jiggy production was still sample based (Sunshine and I Know What Girls Like in particular with just lifting classic old school beats). Lucky Me was soft as shyt.
Poor Jay couldn't even venture into a club without potentially brushing up against a girl and being sued
I remember being a 17 year old kid thanking god I wasn't rich and famous
With Vol. 2 you had songs with that Southern Bounce (Can I Get A) (when the fukk we start bouncing?
)
Timbo beats
Swizz
Hip hop had changed and the album was perfectly timed to do numbers
That kind of shyt doesn't hold up with me as much as sample based production though
I'm greatly oversimplifying things here
