Damn has it been a year already since they had their Good Music run. I wonder how all the albums ended up performing commercially? Kids See Ghosts and Daytona were the only classic pieces of music to come out of the process, but the Tiana album was great too (outside that horrible last song).

Nasir was still very mid to me, it had some highs but Nas' flow wasn't as sharp and a couple of the songs were lackluster.

It should have been presented as an EP, not the latest Nas album as expectations were high after the numbers of years and rumours of different producers since Life Is Good.

Simple Things, Adam and Eve and Bonjour are probably the only songs that I still play.

Simple Things

Second:Bonjour

To me those are the only songs on this album that have replay value and may be able to stand the rest of time. If only he had a second verse on simple things :mjcry:

Edit:Adam Eve is three, add that to the list too.

Album was a mis-step that failed to capitalize off the hype that had been built for a new Nas album. It bombed, only a couple songs kind of work live, and there was next to no promo or anything for it. It was just sent out to die. Nas deserved better. Not a bad album but it just seems like nearly everything that could have went wrong did so.

Adam & Eve is still amazing though.

I like adam and eve and simple things. I didn't anticipate this so I feel indifferent. I want the Swizz album and the Lost tapes

This was all Kanye's idea and even though the beats were okay and it was Nas content that seemed not sharp, I still blame Kanye for how this thing came together
:francis:

How do you not even start the album until days before the release?:dahell:
How are you two not even in the studio together and sending him beats with no discussion of concept and monitoring the recording:dahell:

How are you not even mixing the album and giving it to someone else to rush and do on the day of release :dahell:

Theres a reason Nas didnt even acknowledge the existence of this album when Kanye announced it until the day of release, even he didnt know what was going on:gucci:

Look I dont blame dude for accepting Kanye's invitation. Its Kanye and he saying hes willing to do an album with you and you dont have the confidence to release your own album (Nas album done) cause you feel the buzz aint truly there for an artist of your rep, so ok yeah sure make a producer-MC star album but then Kanye gotta properly do this

The only albums that sounded great in that run were the ones started early and almost completed a month before the drop. Nasir and Ye were snakebitten by last minute rushes

:mjcry: and couple with the Kelis thing, man...just man....:why:

That all said, after hating it at first I bump a few tracks time to time and its fine:ld:. Not the worst just themes dissapointing

I'm ok with Nasir. It has grown on me. Ready for the next few projects though. After that, I'm ok if Nas wants to retire. I assume we will still get further volumes of The Lost Tapes.
