I just listened to I Am... again and forgot how solid of an album it is. His lyricism was a little behind (compared to the previous two) and some of the beats aged bad but he gave a good variety of songs. His voice was finally matured on this album too. NYSOM2, Small World, Ghetto Prisoners, I Want To Talk To You, Undying Love,We Will Survive, Life is What You Make It, Nas is Like. Solid 3.5/5 album

Big Things might be his worst song though

Ready to Die blew up in 1994.... sorry try again.
Ready to Die blew up on the strengh of Who Shot Ya and One More Chance remix, both dropped in 95. Who Shot Ya was on the b-side to Big Poppa. If it came out November of 94 and went gold in January of 95 then double platinum of October 95 = blew up in 95 :martin:

Never mind the fact that Who Shot Ya came out in December of 1994, and ignoring the fact that One More Chance remix was his biggest single at the time AFTER the album was already PLATINUM (something you casually ignored). You act as those his first single and hit, JUICY, was not a game changer that influenced that whole period. The lavish lifestyle, mansions and all those visual. Even Nas' IF I RULE THE WORLD as well as his boy's AZ's SUGAR HILL were blatant bites off the Juicy. The whole "dream" of what the good life could be, the sampling of a classic 80's hit, the R&B singer singing the hook... all of that. You are really trying to deny that Nas was riding that wave. Even when Nas himself admits to it and made it known he was seeking commercial successful after Illmatic that couldn't even go Gold that that time.

I mean how you going to ignore Juicy and Big Poppa, both were major HITS in 1994? How you going to ignore that Ready to Die in a mere two months went Gold and by One More Chance remix hit, that it was a platinum album already? How you ASSUME that from September of 1994 to April when Mobb Deep's album (which Nas first calling himself Escobar)...a FULL 7 MONTHS, that Biggie's album had a major impact, especially in NYC? Admit it, Biggie set the WAVE and everyone followed.

All of those 1995-96 albums coming from the east were mostly influenced by Ready to Die. That was the album that brought NYC back to the forefront, not Illmatic.

this album is THE shyt..
the fact you didnt rate "adam and Eve" 5/5 .. lets me know you a fukking hater

Since when am I a hater lmao. I'm a hard grader sure. I wouldn't give Reasonable Doubt a 5 lmao. But hater...nah.

I'm not giving any track on the album a 5. Adam & Eve is dope, but it's not a classic song. I'll give it a 4/5.
