Not gonna lie, listening to this on Master version of tidal is pretty sick. Even though I don't have crazy headphones or anything. White Label sounds dope

Big nas fan but this aint it. Might be his worst album. The beats and production are mediocre and sound like kanye put it together in a week. No excuse when you only got 7 tracks. Not for radio and adam and eve are the standouts imo. "everything" is typical over produced kanye half singing trash. not sure what yall see in that track. Nas vocals dont even start until 2 minutes into it and the beat does nothing. I wanna like cops shot the kid but they didnt flip the sample well cause its too short of a loop. Slick ricks vocals repeating through the whole track was a terrible decision cause its distracting. Should have just been the hook.

:stopitslime::hhh: HHID, SD and NAstradaumus would all like to have a word with you.

Man i have listened to the Nasir album at ignorant levels and i cant for the life of me understand how somebody can’t like this body of work. Every track the lyrics are on point. They all have different vibes which is dope. The production is dope too and Nas flows perfectly. Nas has always had an unorthodox flow at certain parts of songs, but if you really listen, his lyrics are too notch. It’s no way you can play this album in the car or in quality speakers and say it’s wack.

yo me neither, I have NO idea what the "naysayers" are talking about.. I am starting to think these dudes are just repeating what others have said.

People have said this about Nas on every single album that I've seen discussed. I don't really hear it though, he doesn't sound off.
Because he isn't off, I have NEVER heard an a rapper critiqued the way they are critiquing this dude. What is this bar for what his flow should sound like? wtf?
How is Everything of all tracks the one that is over produced? :mjlol:

Cats grasping for straws trying/reaching for a reason to downplay this project.

exactly
Access. Hov has played the media game pretty consistently, and has cultivated relationships with journalists and tastemakers, and even hired some (Wilson, Dream Hampton). He played the radio game back when DJs mattered as well. Nas largely avoided the press, does not offer much access, and even when he does interviews they're rarely insightful or interesting. He doesn't care, basically. He's not going to do a Breakfast Club interview, he's not gonna do an Apple Music sit-down with Zane Lowe, etc.

You see this in the way rap media treats Drake as well. Drake used to play all the radio games, he used to go on Rosenberg's show and deal with Flex and all that. The minute he reached superstar status he deaded all that shyt...and you can tell a lot of radio and media people aren't happy. Yea they won't outright crucify him, but they pop shots. Nobody was afraid to declare Pusha the winner. I guarantee you that if Drake played the game like Hov did, we wouldn't have seen so many rap personalities come out and bury him.

The other thing...this album isn't much of an event when you strip away the Kanye association and the release party. There are no big summer anthems on the album, or a Nas banger to latch onto like Made You Look or Nas Is Like. It's a very low tempo, low energy album for Nas fans. I'm not shocked it's getting mixed reviews. Rosenberg basically dismissed it as ok. On the flip side Charlamange likes it...but then Hov/B dropped and his attention shifted to that 100% (peep his IG if you don't believe me).

If Nas played their game and gave them an album they could run with, they would. But he doesn't. BTW this is the same reason they don't really champion J Cole. I don't remember Rosenberg having much to say about Cole until he signed to Interscope...

Radio and media people like radio songs. They champion Jay more because he gives them more radio friendly songs, this whole ablum is radio friendly. Nas on the other hand is doing more "b-sides" type of music.. It is what it is.
Underwhelming and just way too short a project. 6 years and this is all we get. And fuc Kanye, disgusts me to even listen to anything that guy is associated with. Smh.

What has hip hop come to? seriously so you going to tell me with a straight face that your viewpoint of this album isn't due to you feeling some type a way about Kanye?

Are the people that are saying "his flow was off" or the samples and beats are "too loud" or whatever super critical ass opinions floating around, how much of this type of criticism do we give to the current batch of rappers? Do we have cole and Kendrick under this same microscope? cant yall nikkas just enjoy the music with out dissecting every aspect of the songs?

Last few bars on the 2nd verse of Adam and Eve sounds like a slight
addressing of Nicki Minaj. Would of liked to hear more lol

They wanna fukk me, have me under they belt, slightly offended
Yeah, that's how I felt, that's how it ended

I'm just good at existing, existed in my truth
As long as I enjoy the fruit, yeah

Where are all the freaks saying that Kanye fukked up? Even if one might say that one or two songs are slightly rushed.. this shyt is fire all around. Those two lazier tracks just means that this shyt could’ve been flawless but instead it’s just straight fire. fukk that “where is Premo and *insert anyone else everyone respects but no one is missing*”.

Buy the old album if you want that old shyt :yeshrug:

Well said and all facts. Bloggers are hella salty to this day Nas never let them into his orbit. Go look at Elliott's last IG posts. Dude stopped posting about Nas soon as he got the bat signal from Jay. Cornballs stay exposing themselves
Or perhaps it’s cause they are great friends? Weirdos man..

U cant make this type of shyt up. Nas gets fukkin MICROSCOPIC treatment I swear. If he listened to all of these idiots he would've stopped making music in 96. Lol

Bro no

How can you listen to It Was Written and say Nas is flowing perfectly here?

That ain't Nas fault sound engineer fault! The engineering on the 3 beats were off. But Nas was flowing on these tracks.
