Think there's a bit of a story of GOAT mistakenly tipping Afroman from the Roots and taking the food off his hands believing its the chinese delivery guy.

Understandable to hold a grudge, who likes their food taken from them ?!

He dissed the whole of The Roots for their role in Spike Lee movie (Can't remember what it's called) during his Stillmatic run, Nas legit gunning for everybody at that time :mjlol:

But they settled it & I'm pretty sure they've done a few shows with him ever since.

Even before then, he was speaking on illmatic and his first thoughts were, “oh that’s cool.” Talks about how he was on some “yeah whatever” shyt when Stoute thought Nas would fit on a D’Angelo track and he dissed “Black Girl Lost” in front of Stoute

walk into electric lady coming from waverly diner across the street. bag of food in hand
i walk inside and walk downstairs.
nas is talking to the receptionist and hands me a $20
grabs my bag and says “its cool…keep the change”

i thought he was joking so i let 15 secs go by but he kept walking to studio b.

me and the receptionist were laughing and i thought…well maybe i should keep this 20 cause this story is too funny…

but i was starving…

and then i thought about it…and my ego kicked in…

how does this nikka not know im not the delivery boy from the diner and not questlove??!?!??

i mean for god sake he bytched to the source the HARDEST when we got a higher rating than It Was Written….so i KNOW he has to know….

i ran like “yo!!!!! i thought you were playing….that is my food yo..i thought you were joking”

“naaaaah….i….thought you were the delivery boy…”

*hands bag back*

*me and the receptionist were like “this nikka must be high as hell”*

there are 2 $20 dollar bills i have on my wall at home.

one from Prince–he tipped me jokingly for being funky

the other from Nas….i never gave him that $20 back

Little tension they had I think it stems from 1) Nas and others seeing the what we do vid as a diss
2) Roots doing the Jay Z unplugged and playing Oochie Wallie in it instrumental during the Takeover song. One thing being the live band, another to add in Nas beats. So Nas I think called them porch monkeys 3) the delivery guy story haha

Plus Nas always joked about backpackers. There’s the hilarious video of him and Jungle dissing rappers who wear backpacks

I’ve noticed a shift on social media, YouTube etc… in the Nas love. It’s like he is finally getting some of the appreciation he has always deserved. Even the younger generation on YouTube is like yea he is the goat when they sit back and listen to him. Also when a narrative tries to get pushed these days Nas fans hold him down.

Agreed.

This is the most love i’ve seen him getting since Life Is Good was released. When KD3 drops and its his fourth straight FIRE album nobody’s going to have ANYTHING negative they can say about this era of his career

KD3 is going to be a big problem for the rap game. You know him and hit are making sure this one is air tight with everything. It’s definitely the most anticipated one too. If they have a dope marketing plan leading up to the release and throw in 1 or 2 features that are heavily streamed artist he will be golden.
