Speechless just came on while driving and it reminded me of the feeling I had when I first listened to this album… for me, this is what I was waiting for…. I haven’t felt like this for any other album of his… illmatic I was still young and every album after that didn’t hit me like this one did as far as excitement and bopping my head the way I did to magic.

Yea its definitely a double edged sword but i was speaking more of right now than in the beginning. Omicron still tearing its way across the US and a lot of shows and tours are getting cancelled. The Fugees just cancelled their reunion tour which I was looking forward to and Nas hasn’t announced any tour and hasn’t been on tour since 2018.

nas toured in 2019 when lost tapes 2 dropped. i caught him in myrtle beach, sc at the house of blues july 2019 the day after lost tapes 2 dropped. but i hear you though, would love to see him out there again hopefully this year.

I like this better than Illmatic

I can respect it, :ohhh:

:salute: to you for even feeling like that...most people put the classics from yesteryear on this unreachable and untouchable level, especially one at the top of the tops like "Illmatic". No matter what they'll never hold any new school classic in the same regard as an old school classic, it's kind of ridiculous when you think about it.

Having said all that I disagree with you, lol. The time period and the impact and the excitement...and a 19-20 year old kid delivering beyond anyone's expectations and creating something so game changing lyrically/musically...I can't put something like "Magic" ahead of that. I respect it tho, if someone just heard "Illmatic" and "Magic" for the first time today and felt like they like Magic more I wouldn't be upset.

the one benefit of COVID is not sure we would have had this run from Nas without it. Life slowing down seemed to get Nas back in his music zone according to one interview from him

I think he was going to go on this run no matter what. There was Nasir, The Lost Tapes II, and King's Disease was already being worked on before COVID hit. And even while Nas and Hit Boy were working on KD1, they knew they had to do a sequel. What I personally think inspired Nas alongside working with Hit Boy is getting off Def Jam and moving to Mass Appeal. Everything can be done his way and he doesn't have to deal with the label blocking anything.

Imagine if Nas was an independent artist years ago. We would probably have four or five Lost Tapes, Street's Disciple would have been a triple album, and Untitled would have songs from The N****r Tape. Maybe it wouldn't even be untitled.

"My team is mature, the bags are secure Surrounded by addicts addicted to having more"

I've heard this song at least a dozen times, but only today did I hear it and feel like he was referring to us listeners/his music with that last line, lol. And if he is he's damn right :feedme:

NAS SCORES AFLAC'S EMOTIONAL SHORT FILM 'THE PARK BENCH' ABOUT HEALTHCARE DISPARITIES

As Nas continues to prep King’s Disease III, the Illmaticmastermind found time to score a new short film for Alfac called The Park Bench.

Produced by Carl Reed of Lion Forge Animation and directed/written by Academy Award nominee Rob Edwards, the film follows the story of a young girl Bella, whose father has been diagnosed with sickle cell disease and shows their journey to embrace family, care and home as the famous Aflac duck lends a wing.

The Park Bench was named an official selection at Brand Storytelling 2022, a sanctioned event of the Sundance Film Festival. It was also selected at the Sedona International Film Festival and will be featured at multiple film events across the country.

The short film falls under Aflac’s new Close The Gap initiative, which aims to address medical debut and disparities in health and wealth in America.

“We wanted to make a film that depicted the value of care, using the backdrop of a common family story—caring for each other in times of an unexpected medical crisis,” Aflac CMO Shannon Watkins said in a statement. “It underscores what Aflac believes — during medical events you need to focus on what matters most: your recovery, not finances.”
