Nas never made the album with DJ Premier but has now made 3 forgettable projects with Hit-Boy and for me that’s his career in a nutshell since Illmatic.

Nas was never under any obligation whatsoever to make an album with Premier. He NEVER has publicly said he would nor announced that it was forthcoming.

I don’t know where it became some forgone conclusion that a Nas/Premier album was MEANT to be.

some people seem to believe that they would come up with a project full of nysom, nas is like and 2nd childhood stuff but for some reason nas doesn't feel like it

when in reality preemos beats haven't hit like THAT in ages

thats why I asked what other incredible hip hop he's listening to in 2022 but he im guessing it's Crickets MCs - Hater's Paradise.

truth of the matter is if a mental health test would be required to enter this thread it probably have only 200 pages or so

meanwhile Nasir keeps goating as per usual

"They thought I'd make another Illmatic
But it's always forward I'm movin'
Never backwards stupid here's another classic"

People still don't get it!

Nas could drop an album produced by Premo today and still have people saying its forgettable because none of the songs were on par with the Premo tracks from Illmatic. He will never be able to win with some of his fans. Thankfully, he continued to do him and put the BS on ignore. In the mean time:

It was this 2006 interview with Premier that fukked it all up:

Premier said in the interview something along the lines that he was ready to go. Nas had a different opinion, as we know now.

I still have this magazine and remember Premo saying Nas giving him the nod like it was on. I don't know if it was this same issue or the XXL article of Most Anticipated Albums of 2006, but Nas said he needed more pieces for his next puzzle implying there would be more than just Premo.

I’ve got that magazine. And in the actual interview neither of them talked about an ALBUM. They were both talking about doing a SONG because it had been 5 years since they last worked together.

Nas even said about the project that turned out to be Hip Hop Is Dead, that he wanted different producers for the project.

Hmm, than I must have mistaken it with another interview. I vividly remember reading about Premier saying he was ready to do the Premier produced Nas album. Nas just had to call.
