NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
Honestly I'm fine with that because I'd rather have Questlove providing hip hop authority to the masses than...Peter Rosenberg. Because the fear to me has always been you get to a point where suddenly you've got white authoritative figures hopping out the woods in x years saying Eminem was the most influential rapper of the 00s, for instance.
fukk that pretentious goof. His opinions basically mirror Rosenberg. lol

:russ:

Imagine an early 00's Em from in the media, hearing the original shyt and reacting like

:unimpressed::dwillhuh::merchant::picard:

Breh... You gotta chill you can't put this out :whoa:

Having him turn into one of the skits from on his own albums on Nas shyt. That would have been great. :wow:

"Hey Nas, what's going on? It's Em. Listen, I just listened to the rough copy of your new album. And you're going too far dissing everybody. How can you be God's Son when everyone is your enemy? I can't even handle it. Bye."

I think if i’m not mistaken that Nore said himself that there is more footage and on that footage Nas was dissing people by name.

I know for sure there was some tension between Nas and The Roots and Nas REALLY didn’t fukk with Backpack rap & Neo Soul during the 90’s. I do find it hard to believe that Nas would diss Meth and Redman though

Tension with Nas and the Roots was also from them doing Unplugged with Jay right?

Always thought it was funny Nas openly hated the backpack crowd, makes sense the way they worshipped Illmatic then shyt on everything else he did

To me lot of it goes down to Nas being seen as this hero for backpacker types when Nas was just a street breh who was poetic and introspective but also liked the flashy stuff. He was never like them but they thought he should be.

And Nas was right to feel a way about the Roots for Unplugged. If they’re just playing the songs then fine but them playing the Oochie Wally instrumental made them a target

Quest was defending trash like I Know What Girls Like a week ago so he isn't even against flashy stuff, he's just against Nas doing flashy stuff.

Where are you getting that he’s dissing Mos, Talib, Common, Meth, Red? I just heard him throwing shade at “backpackers”?

that is just a trailer

footage is old and people been seen it

also backpack rap is blackstarr, common, etc that is a fact if you were around back then

rawkus = backpack rap

nas was dead to rights dissin them; they was wild hippocrites back then

roots dissed everybody wit the "what they do" video/song then turn around and play ny state of mind and shook ones as jayz's backup band

soon as nas threw shade back every soulquarian artist under the sun dissed nas

just another reason he the best

"Yeah, I was gonna take Nas that night. When I heard he was gonna be at Talib Kweli show
I was like, “Should I just slap the shyt outta Nas?”… But before any of that, he defused it, on some real, bigger man shyt."

Wherever nikkas need to be told on
I knew there was some static with The Roots

I know what backpack rap is but that’s a wide label that can include a whole lot of rappers

I was just wondering if he was actually naming names and being specific if he was throwing darts

I doubt he was getting at Common, he was cool with Com back then (check the Ghetto Dreams single cover) or even Mos and Talib. I'm thinking he was getting more at the abrasive underground weirdo avant garde white boy rap that was starting to rise in the late 90's early 00's like El-P and Aesop Rock when he said backpackers.
