So when Nas took risks they said he should go back to the basics, but now that he’s releasing dope shyt with a hot producer it’s too “safe” lol? He can’t win.

I think Hit is great and he does well at what he does. I think Preme and Pete Rock are great at what they do. I don't take anything from any of them. Whoever contracts them to make tracks will get some heat, no doubt. Nas is going to make the kind of music that he wants to make and that's that. If or when Nas wants to do a song with those classic boom bap producers, he will. It might be a tough pill to swallow but it is what it is. If you were a big, established rap artist like Nas with 15-17 albums and all types of the accolades that he has, would you be making the music that other people want to make or would you be making music that comes from your heart and that you want to make? Nas is doing him and I'm cool with that. Like Nas new music or not, it's still far better than the high majority of the game right now.

The few times I heard him speaking on Nas he always mentioned how great he is and shyt like that...I do remember a clip somebody posted in here of him saying Nas isn't the same Nas today that he was back when he was probably the best and shyt like that...I heard a few high level MC's say that about Nas tho, not just Budden. That's why I fukk with Magic so much...Nas showing everybody he could still tear shyt down on the mic and drop some hard shyt if he feels like it...that's not his aim on every album tho

When speaking on Nas it was always backhanded. It was very weird. Look at Nas verses on Echo for instance. Met with nothing I think Rory fukked wit it heavy and maybe Parks. Joe n them was whatever and when Jay dropped his verse that year on Meek shyt they damn near dedicated a whole episode to it. It’s little shyt like that. The fact that Nas has to PROVE something this day and age to nikkas lesser than him is proof enough in the bullshyt.

It’s backhanded shyt. This is what I be saying. In what way are these shyts safe? It’s just a new buzzword to downplay Nas. And even Hit Boy as a producer. I didn’t even agree with Parks when he said Hit Boy’s production on Magic is less “safe” than his last 2. To me that’s false. His production is more straight forward on this one than especially KD2. Anyone that can listen to Rare and think that’s some “safe” shyt is on some other shyt in my book.
