I guess he feels like Pete Rock gave him an old beat and a simple flip. Also he feels like Hit Boy really locked in for a while and proved his worth. Who knows. If the pandemic didn’t happen maybe they wouldn’t have gotten as close.

Hit Boy is cool but I just struggle to see how he is worth 3 or 4 full length projects with an artist of the calibre of Nas. I just cant help thinking a producer with crazy sound variation like Madlib would do a better job with that volume of work. I like variation anyway so I would personally get more excited with Nas doing full length projects with a single producer but a different producer on each project. It just feels to me that Nas and Hit Boy hooked up on KD1, developed a good working relationship and are repeating that formula for another 2 or 3 more projects. To me that's kinda safe it's much more of a risk to get in the studio with someone else.

But as Nas has shown in the past he doesn't necessarily work with the people you want or expect, he works with who he feels comfortable with. I'm cool with this too because i'm all for artists having complete artistic freedom whether that be long time vet like Nas, or a new person coming through.

Never was a fan of Lupe. Some of his songs are pure genius, but I don't think I ever played any of his albums without skipping.

Watched his IG. Dude is so full of himself, acting like he a fukking Hip-hop teacher or something... Can't stand this cornball mentality..

If u want to watch a nice review, here's one. Love these kids. They always find some shyt that went over my head. This time it was the Ross flow on the 2nd Dedicated beat. After they mentioned it I couldn't erase it from my head and can really picture Ross with that flow on that beat.
Way more relevant than the Cole flow comparison Lupe came up with..

I hear the Ross flow :ohhh:

not really

a lot of people didn't even like the last Gangstarr album production wise.
Yup. When is the last time there was a great Premo beat? Or a great Pete Rock beat? Not saying they couldn’t give Nas dope shyt but he can get doper shyt elsewhere. Alchemist, 40, Bo1da, Jake One, Bink, DJ Dahi, Hit Boy, Just Blaze…

Nas got a Grammy with Hit Boy then turned around and released a sequel that was the second most acclaimed Rap Album of the year THEN turned around and dropped a third album that is being pretty much universally praised by his fans.

Meanwhile Madlib can’t even release the album he recorded with Black Star because he forgot the samples he used and therefore can’t get them cleared…

If Nas did what fans wanted him to do he’d be right where Talib and Mos Def are right now…

We sure about this? I thought the holdup was Egon (Madlib’s manager/Stones Throw president) being a dikk head. Regardless I agree with you. Madlib would give Nas a bunch of loops with no drums lol. Love the dude but that’s not the style I want to hear from Nas.

He proved his worth. Bottom line.

As much as Hit Boy and Nas have this incredible run going, i got the feeling that MOST OF US would react and go crazy for a Nas and Preemo album. And we would say it beats all of Hit Boy and Nas's albums. Yall would be in denial but if that ever came to fruition, most of us would switch up REAL QUICK. There are some producers that no matter how good the producer of the TIME is, will always HOLD MORE WEIGHT at ANY TIME :sas2:

Hearing Preem work with Royce makes me believe this statement is completely false. I wouldn’t mind a couple of tracks but Preem isn’t in his prime to do a whole Nas project.
