Yeh defo feel it’s unique album in his catalogue. I do get slight N*****R tape vibes. More for some of the production more than anything else as songs like The Truth, Meet Joe Black and 40-16 remind me of mid 2000s production

Wow, I don't hear that at all. The N tape definitely had some dope stuff on it like Esco Let's Go, Association, and probably more that I'm forgetting. But Hit's production feels a lot more cinematic imo. I haven't heard that tape in a while though so maybe I'll have to revisit.

Tell the nikka to throw on Message to the Feds to see where that flow on Meet Joe Black came from. Hence why he says “gimme that flow back!”.

That's exactly the track I was thinking about when I wrote that. Check 1:20:

Lu out of pocket saying Nas stole Cole's flow. If anything it's the other way around. Nas been doing this since before the millennium. Lu acting like he is a scholar of this hiphop shyt, but he needs to step his game up.

:francis: I tried :snoop: I honestly tried....

:beli: couple things actually few...

:martin: you can lift Nasirs vocals off any track I mean dam near any track aside from perhaps a couple :what: and place/replace them over any of his songs:damn:

:heh: it's just one set monotone
:mjlol: dodoesn'matter if he's talking about his daughter or his in an epic battle

They laid either but I say he didn't have a choice :yeshrug: but to go that route

He has no voice inflection :scust:
No feeling :yeshrug: therefore you don't feel his music

Aside from that the excuse he always skated on was bad/ poor beat selection :yeshrug: now that that excuse is gone :yeshrug: I think it really shows him up to be just an average rapper..

He don't got to be trash or garbage :mjlol:
But he's just not this universally excepted top 5 goat:yeshrug:

And the beats were sub par to be perfectly honest yes better much better that his previous selections but nothing memorable :yeshrug:

A lot of his music / projects just seem forced

It seems he's been forced in to this quote un quote knowledgeable rapper role that's just not him:yeshrug:

We all may have moments of inspiration :ohlawd: enlightenment
:umad: that don't make you a genius a savant ...

Nor is he up to the task of hit after hit putting out classics

:yeshrug: Luke warm tapioca :scust:raps over backwashed beats:scust:

This isn't a review. You don't even like his music. Starting off with "I tried" like it was a chore and you did us a favor betrays your entire mentality going in and invalidates everything you wrote.

No objectivity. You don't even like his music :pachaha:

Some of you goofs need to be aware that your bias impacts your viewpoints. This is akin to me doing a food review of something I don't like eating or the taste of...

Not saying you can't review it but that it's pointless. Your bias is PROMINENT. Hence it's a waste of time.

All you basically did was take this time to tell is you don't enjoy listening to Nas. Whole post is structured to provoke an argument. Has no actual depth of analysis.

Nah. It’s worse. That nikka you quoted is an idiot who just wanted some attention.

Number 1. It shows he hasn’t listened to much Nas past a certain era. Also. The way he was behaving was weird. He literally wasn’t listening to anything Nas was saying. Lol

The great thing about this run with Hit Boy is its just exposing how much lack of crediblity the audience, be it critics or fans have to still say they want Nas to go back to producers wth an old sound.
Like Hit Boy has given him that with joints like Nobody, Store Run, Composure, Meet Joe Black, 40-16. Think about what Pete Rock sent him that he eventually put on Lost Tapes 2 (which I liked what he gave him but it was a loop sample of uptown anthem and a piano beat that appearently he made in 1990, lets be real thats lazy as fukk)

I don't get this, why you describe what Pete Rock gave Nas on the lost LT2 as lazy? You admit that you liked the tracks. There is no set formula to making great music a producer like Pete Rock given his time in the game is going have an unimaginable amount of quality music sitting in the vault. I don't see why he wouldn't make this available for artists to hear. The 'Joy' Beat he did for Kanye & Jay-Z in 2011 he made in 1997. This tells me when of artists of this calibre come to Pete Rock they want to hear his classic materiel there can't be many producers from that era with music sitting their vaults that they could actually put out.

I guess he feels like Pete Rock gave him an old beat and a simple flip. Also he feels like Hit Boy really locked in for a while and proved his worth. Who knows. If the pandemic didn’t happen maybe they wouldn’t have gotten as close.

You’re 100% right man. It has that stripped down feel I got from Lost Tapes. Sparse hooks, moody beats, and rhymes on rhymes. Just a dope project.

I’d imagine KD3 will be this big, triumphant type album so separating these tracks to make a different album makes sense.

Yup, it's really not far from Lost Tapes level, that's why I believe it's his best effort in 20 years.

What LT1 really has over Magic is the melancholy/emotions in tracks like My Way, Doo Rags, Purple.... Ah fukk it man, just trying to type the track names and I realize nothing will ever fukk with LT1...

Just grateful I sort of relived that moment 20y later... Unexpected release, no skips, pure dope music..

nikka not even really listening to it. He’s actually rapping over Nas’ lyrics like they don’t matter. Lol. No way in hell is this nikka gonna tell me the rhymes on KD2 were harder. But he gave that a fair and legit listen.

The rhymes ok KD2 are definitely hardee IMO. But is a dope project
