It's crazy to think that in a year and a half, Nas has taken every narrative/criticism surrounding his music and destroyed it.
"Nas has bad beats." He found a super-producer who can give him virtually anything to rap over, doesn't stick to one style, and together, they developed a chemistry that nobody saw coming.
"Nas never drops music." After six years off, he's been releasing projects annually, with two albums this year and a potential one coming next summer (King's Disease III).
"Nas needs to hook up with AZ and them." Had a Firm reunion (with Dr. Dre) on King's Disease and a Lauryn Hill feature on King's Disease II.
"I want some gutter, grimy, 90s era Nas." Just released an album that's nothing but hard beats and pure, concentrated ego.
"Where's Premier?" For the first time in twenty years, Premier is officially on a Nas album. He's doing the scratches, but it's still something, and not a complete disappointment like when Eminem worked with Premier last year.
Nas truly is in another prime of his career. I had no way of knowing that working with Hit Boy was going to give us so much great material. This era has to end at some point, so we should all soak in the fact that we're witnessing something special. Nas is pushing 50, and all he's doing is proving he has the GOAT discography with his latter-day work.
