i see where u coming from.....

KD1 had a more modern feel, production, features and artistic direction. Which is why pple appreciated him fitting in with the current landscape 27 summers in
KD2 was a balance of modern direction n old school feel hence the LIG/GS/SD/Stillmatic comparisons. It fed fans new and old.
Magic is raw, maybe more of on a Lost Tapes1 vibe, where production amplifies lyrically expressive Nas. Its an Old heads n 90s kids fodder but without a dated feel to it.

Fans who are appreciative of Nas artistic direction in all eras will be ecstatic regardless
I fit into this category. I look at these 3 albums as 3 different bodies of work sonically and all 3 work. I dont skip a song on any of them personally. He has hit every single mark with these albums.

i'm starting to think this is better than the first 2 KDs, it's just so cohesive and no skips at all. :ohhh:

this mf just flexing at this point, the biggest surprise of this decade is the GOAT throwing all type of albums out and all of them being HIGH QUALITY with no signs of falling off :hubie:
I dont skip any songs on kd1, kd2 or magic to be honest. There are no bad songs on any of these albums.

Rightly so.
Remember the Stillmatic - Lost Tapes - God's Son run?
Different albums all high standard.

Wake up out the bed, wrap my durag up
Say a prayer, I'm thankin' God that mom dukes had us
Monotone style like Guru on some Preemo cuts
Crewneck by McQueen, go nuts
Jewels over my white hoodie like Juvie in '9-8
It's movies that I make, Peruvian white flake
It tore the community at a high rate, adversity I faced
I roll my own gas to make sure that it's not laced
Damn, I used to hit the block hopin' they see me
Watchin' Video Music Box, sittin' close to the TV
I was inspired by Whodini and Kool G
Got my first pair of J's, thought I was 2-3 (Air)
Invest in all my G's before we rest in peace
'Cause we sure to rest in peace, my shorty is a piece
A piece of mind, a dimepiece, I might buy her a piece of property
You might've had some joints
But ain't nothin' like me and Rocky seen

With these last three releases I got to start debating again if Nas has the number 1 spot of Jay. I always had Hov nudging him out, but with these last three albums vs Jay’s last three, it’s time to revisit it.

I'll always kick myself in the ass for not trying to make beats. I gotta be one of the only producer nerds to go ":ohhh: the Living Proof drums" that doesn't actually produce.

:snoop:
Ever since i started making beats I developed this uncanny ability to identify drum breaks. Even a hi-hat. Like the Impeach The President and thatvone Ohio Players sample have distinct hi hats that I know as soon as I hear. Or how everyone that uses Fool Yourself by Little Feat just samples the part at the end of Bonita Applebum. Or I'll hear Jesus Walks and immediately go "That's Ode to Billy Joe :gladbron:" cuz that Snare is one of my go tos

Going off topic from the album
I've always been a Jay guy. :dame:

I've always thought Nas had the single best album between the two of them, but after 4:44 I was still pretty solidly on the Jay side.

But from Lost Tapes 2 to now? I honestly don't even know how you really make the case anymore that Jay has a better catalog. If someone did it I'd think they were arguing in bad faith or possibly just stupid.

Honestly I think the best thing for Jay stans to do is to try and argue from the position that Jay in his prime is maybe the best to do it, and Jay was a bigger star, had bigger hits, put on more artists and producers, and influenced the mainstream culture the most while they were younger. It just didn't live up to the hype.

If you're just arguing album for album I don't think Jay is even that close anymore. Jay has a couple legit 5 mics albums and a couple very near-classic albums. But Nas at this point has like half a dozen albums that are legitimately as classic as classic gets, or very close to it.

Let's be honest. Jay's discography post-retirement is super average outside of American Gangster and 4:44. Nas basically has one miss in his catalogue this side of 2010 (NASIR) and even then it's not that bad.

I still think Jay at his peak is the most effortless to ever do it. But Nas got him in the catalog department.
