The intro threw me off a bit. Had me thinking I downloaded a "Fake album"

It reminded me back around in 2005 when I was a forum member on Game's Blackwell street website and news was bubblin that Game was going to release 300 barz n runnin a diss track towards 50 and G-unit. You gotta remember this was YEARS before streaming and YouTube was still in it's infancy stages.

One member on the forum made a thread titled something like "300 Barz N Runnin leak early!!' we all downloaded the link he posted the song ended up being this.

Nas got so many elite tracks that it’s hard for songs to crack a top 25/30 Nas list. Just from Illmatic to God’s Son there’s 25 songs I’m not sure anything from his albums onwards since 2002 have topped. Like even Stay on LIG. Amazing song but does it get into a top 25. That’s not to diss any of this newer stuff as what these albums with Hit have is consistency we didn’t get from Nas for some of his albums. But that elite classic level a tough group to break in to. I guess time will tell and maybe it’s nostalgia or maybe it’s just those songs when Nas young just can’t be topped period. And I’ve omitted a lot of amazing tracks from 1994 to 2002

Nas STAN since '96, decorated veteran of the Jigga and Dipset wars, own multiple physicals of most of his albums and a bunch of merch. Been to Nas concerts everytime he came through the Netherlands and once in Germany.

I ain't doing none of that, I play it how I want when I want and will cop the physical and merch. Too old for this shyt.

Bruh...I couldn't have said it any better. Been a Nas fan since IWW. Not doing none of this shyt...i.buy and listen as i please lol.

Either they take money to promote stuff or you gotta be a guest on the show. Nas ain’t doing either apparently so it is what it is.

I haven’t checked for the Breakfast Club really since Angela Yee left. And not because I was some fan of hers, but they’ve gotten SUPER corny lately with Envy’s little weird ass beef with Rick Ross and Charlemagne being one foot in and one foot out.

That Breakfast Club interview in 2020 was a pleasant surprise. One thing I appreciated about King's Disease was that Nas went on a little press run for it, interacting with people he normally wouldn't. I guess once things started opening up again, he was like "fukk that, I have stuff to do" and those stations didn't bother to invite him back.

Yea he did some real informative interviews between KD1 and KD2.

Deja Vu is the best Nas song ever to me. Prolly tied with Nas Is Like, which is his most quintessential song

It’s literally perfect on all levels but it gets dismissed cuz he used the 1st verse on Verbal Intercourse… arguably his greatest verse ever

But like I said in an earlier post, 1994-2002 was basically Nas’ commercial and cultural prime. After God’s Son, everything Nas did could be critiqued, but his legacy was already set in stone. He already had the resume of an all-time great

The Columbia era is always gonna have the advantage of cultural resonance & nostalgia

Feels like Nas is more frustrated/emotional/restless here than the last few. That line about I Am... leaking sounded like he was badly hurt. Also, if you squint you can see him admit the criticism of his art does hurt on "Bokeem Woodbine".

The diversity in style here kind of suggests that he wants more challenging things to try. It's weird, because while some of this makes it less of a quality album than it's predecessors, it also makes this work more interesting.

He recently said he's only competing with himself at this point, so it makes sense. It's one of the reasons I appreciate this album (besides it being a dope listen). Like wtf would be the point in dropping a sonically similar album to KD3 or Magic in such a short span?

Dope rhymes and flows over nice, interesting (Not too left field) beats is something I've always wanted to hear from Esco.

Yeah, I'm even warming to EMJ, which I didn't like at first. Magic 2 is def not the best of the batch (I think Nas and Hit knew this wouldn't be their best one when they made it), but it does seem like the most unique and interesting one.
