No I’m not going to let you do that. The songs are there. There about truthfully 10-12 songs throughout these albums that are mainstream bangers, radio hits. The issue is no radio stations get behind Nas. Even the New York radio don’t get behind the records like they should when it comes to Nas. Let’s call it what it is. It has been like that for years but even more so now, because the radio hits are there. The mainstream appea is there. Brunch on Sunday for example is song that should be on the radio every Sunday. It’s very Modern and today. The songs are there, but Nas doesn’t get a fair share in todays climate.
Look at the top rap songs on Billboard in 2022-2023. You got Kodak, Jack Harlow, Drake, Doja, Uzi, Lil Baby, Gunna, Nicki, Future, Meg, Durk, etc. All of these artists have a predominantly young fan base and a large amount of females. High school kids aren't thinking about Nas.
Just look at the song you think was a potential hit. Brunch on Sundays isn't similar to 95% of the songs on the chart. That song for the ladies with the sung hook ain't the go to for a hit in this day and age. It's hasn't been for a while so I don't know why you think it's modern. Pushin P or Super Gremlin is the type of shyt that charts and that's not what Nas does. He's not getting played in clubs and if he did luck up and land a hit those people will not come back to check for the next album. Look at the 21 song. He got some buzz and streams and it didn't amount to much for the album.
All that "I got hits but the radio just wouldn't play them" is nonsense. Songs can go viral before radio gets to it or they'll stream heavy if it has the audience.
Just accept that Nas isn't a hit making artist at this stage of his career. He's not building a new audience at 49 years old.
