Nas is my Goat but saying he recently dropped 2 classics is bugging. None of these 5 albums can stand along side certified classics like Illmatic, It Was Written or Stillmatic. These are solid probably 4.0 Mic projects and Esco definitely is aging gracefully and his flow is still there but let's not get carried away. Honestly I wish he would lock in with another producer. The Hit Boy cat is cool but I always feel something is missing with these projects.
Well maybe not now. You’ve had nearly 30 years to digest Illmatic and It Was Written. 20+ to digest Stillmatic.

These Hit-Boy albums have come out in rapid fashion. Like breh said, all classics aren’t created equal. It hasn’t been quite 2 years ago that KD2 dropped, Magic 2 dropped 72 hours ago. Give these albums time to live.

One thing I love about Nas is how often he zigs when you expect a zag. Like with the Magic Johnson song, you would expect a lot of basketball references, and we got some, but it was more focused on Magic's business success, which you can tell touched Magic Johnson as that is what he talked about in his Twitter post.

Or like with Bokeem Woodbine, we were all wondering where the hell he was going with that, and that wasn't where I saw him taking it with the image of an actor happily reading a line in a new script that they liked. Dope.

"Pistols on Your Album Cover" sounds like it could've been on an All Eyez On Me. Nas made the same association with using the Pac line "eyes blurry, saying goodbye at the cemetery" and telling the Hennesy story.

I think we’ll only know in a few years or when he stops recording and people take a step back and analyze his whole work

No he might not be the young mainstream listeners choice but we’ll see how this run will be remembered especially when it’s praised for being sonically cohesive

It’s tough for anyone at his age to drop a classic

Loving the last part of Slow It Down

I might be moving at lightspeed
I landed icy in Iceland to sightsee
This long mink gon' be pricey
I might perm up my shyt like I'm Ice-T
American pimp, I'm on timing
Only thing that I pimp is this rhyming
I made that work for me back since the '90s
That's a daily affirmations to remind me

I might be moving at lightspeed
To do what I'm doing's unlikely
This new urgency's perfectly hurting 'em
Send these suckers to emergency nightly

He’s getting a lot of youngsters ears with this run of albums. The strategy for Nas to have 50 year old fans and 16 year old fans is working.

That part was so effortless. That was the best moment on the album. When people wanna criticize his flow, he does something like that that makes them look crazy.

Nas to me isn't trying to create some magnus opus in the current period of his life. Nas to me getting the energy from putting out great albums rapidly and the response this entire series is getting as a whole. Nas could easily sit down and try and create some crazy concept album or whatever over 2-3 years or create 100 songs and only put out 12 of them on an album that he thinks perfect. But his energy now is Hit plays him a beat, he pens something and jumps in the booth with the aiming of bodying the track. Have a general theme for the 10 to 16 tracks. Release it, Then repeat. And each one to most Nas fans being all excellent albums.

So yeh you could argue none are the level of IWW or Stillmatic, but the achievement of putting out 5 excellent albums in 3 years just as impressive.

NaS is more energized recording with hit than he has EVER been.
Im glad he is enjoying his workflow.
That being said this album is so different from all the others I need to chill before assessing it.
On first few listens its solid but nothing to trip over.
Love the 50 trac and am def feeling the music.

Bingo and this is what a lot of Nas fans don’t understand because they are so stuck in their ways to what “they want” and who they want to produce it.

Does the streams and sales tell this story though?
