I thought "This Ain't Love, But I Love It" was dope, but I wonder how people would feel about it if it was never taken off King's Disease.

I personally thought it would have made too many chick songs on the album but the song itself wasn’t bad

That's not true because a lot of Nas fans used to hate on Salem remi
There are different types of Nas fans. There's the loudest Nas stans on much of twitter/Coli/online who think he can do no wrong, believe he's never had an album below 3.5 mics, casually throw around "classic" within 72 hours of every album release, etc. Then there are the Nas stans who are married to specific eras and demand he go back to that; so if they were active (young, partying, living life etc) in 1994 they want Nas to go back to the Illmatic style, if they were active in 1996 they want him to go back to IWW style, etc.

Most people are in the middle which is hard because you'll get attacked by either side. You mentioned Semi and that's a perfect example because some Illmatic/IWW/I Am era fans hated on him because he wasn't Premo/Trackmasters/LES/etc, like you said. On the flip side if you said today "I would love to hear Nas and Remi again on some grimy shyt" you'll have the loud group of other stans yelling at you for daring to suggest Nas work with anyone except Hit Boy and then giving you a public relations statement on the historic chemistry they have and why you're stuck in the past while Nas is in the future.

I'm just here to enjoy the music, find some interesting industry convos, and clown Pete Rock lol. Enjoying most of the new music while hoping for something different at some point too.

After a few more listeMs some random thoughts…

-This def better than KD1

-The intro could’ve been scrapped. Unnecessary and adds very little

-Abracadabra sounds crazy in the whip or with a great system. Beat is tough would’ve been fine starting off as track #1

-Black Magic is a vibe that works. A little creativity in that joint when you break it down. Love the vibe of this track and another track that sounds excellent on a great system. Subs going crazy in this.

-Office Hours AKA Fredo is excellent. Nas was flowing and the energy is there. Another great hook. 50 made his impact, the hook should’ve followed his verse but I’m cool with the shyt talking. Another track that sounds crazy in the whip.

-Motion is the undeniable 5/5 track. would’ve fit perfect on Magic1. One of Nas best rap performance and a another clean hook. Sounds like a Havoc beat. 50 would’ve sound better on this. BACK to the hooks is clear that when it comes to song writing no one is seeing Nas. He’s an elite hook/song writer. This deep in his career its so mind boggling

- Bokeem Woodbine AKA OUCH! This beat is unique imo another risk that really stands out and drives the point that these 5 projects all have a different FEEL. Dope hook

- EMG. Didn’t like this song off rip but wow this beats bangs in the whip. The beat switch is nice too. Of all the tracks on the album this one would’ve benefited the most from a feature. (Future, Ross, Jeezy, Cole, Luda m) would’ve made the song better. imo not their weakest collab

- WTARM classic soulful reflection Nas.

-Slow It Down smooth loop undeniable 5/5 track. Not much to say Nas makes it look effortless

-Pistols On Your Album Cover my favorite track on the album and it’s up there with Dedicate, Nas Is Good and The Cure As 5/5 album closer. Incredible hook that Nas makes look too easy.

Had the weekend to let this soak in. It's solid. Nothing overly dope. Nas still sounds energized tho, and that helps make it not just an average release. Hit boy for me has good solid beats, but I honestly don't think he has timeless classic production. Which isn't too much of a diss, only the goats have that talent. He's good tho, definitely not wack but a good percentage of his tracks sound unfinished or just kind of there. Nas is floatin, sounding inspired. KD3 still the best of the bunch both production and lyrically.
