I think people assumed the magic series was gonna give us 2023 Nas is Like type records, and Kings Disease would give us a more cinematic album with lush sounds. so when they went in a completely different direction it can be jarring.

Kd3 is a masterpiece.....they set the bar high as fukk so anything that falls short will get critiqued by fans. It's like everything post Illmatic all over again lmaoooooo. gift and the curse

Nas spittin over a lighter landscape. It's dope. Sonically, the album is refreshing.

If def gets better after multiple spins, and after initial expectations fade.

My biggest gripe is the mixing.

“Ayo that shyt behooves me”… I feel the same way. I was kinda shytting on it last night. Didn’t give it but two spins and today I was bopping to abracadabra and somehow, black magic had me doing that funny looking hov nodding his head with glasses meme look..

Exactly. I'm not even saying it's trash. To me it's a 3.5 mic album. Which normally was considered a respectable effort. But Nas stans always gotta pretend everything he drops is no lower than 4.5 mics. Smh.

A 4.5 mic album is War Report. It's Disposable arts. It's bulletproof wallets. Train of thought. Pimp a butterfly.

Now if you think this album or any Nas and Hitboy album is even remotely close to these I just can't respect anything you say regarding hip hop music. And I don't wanna hear shyt about times changing. The bar for greatness does not change period.

Just because there's technically nothing outright garbage on an album doesn't make it great. An album full of decent songs is still just a decent album. But that's precisely the problem with these Nas and Hitboy collabs. Hitboy is just not meeting nas's level. Nas is at a 9. Hit is at a 4. Hitboy's beats are background music status. He's actually holding nas back at this point.

With that said, I really liked the the first 3 projects.

I don’t see how they’re “averse”. KD1 has a PLETHORA of features. The most of ANY Nas album to date. KD2 has a bunch of features. Magic has ASAP Rocky. KD3 is literally the only album of this run with 0 features

Basically how I feel. NASIR was awful, some of the worst mixing I’ve ever heard and the beats simply weren’t good. Kanye should be ashamed of himself for that nonsense. Magic 2 is probably a 7/7.5/10 to me, and it really just highlights how enjoyable the King’s Disease series has been.

Basically my initial summary of this album and still consistent right now after initial expectations wore off. Those top 3 albums would be the best work in many careers so you can’t even be mad at this point, Magic 2 is different than the others but still straight. I don’t have a favorite song and don’t think this is seeing Magic 1 and wish they named it something different and do that going forward. I always hate the strictly numeric based titles, it feels lazy on the 5th project in.

Nas Stan’s always throw his producers under the bus instead of assessing Nas with any accountability for half effort concepts and lazy schemes that this nikka has spit over a 1000 times before lol … how many “I was _____ with _____ back before rappers ______” style rhymes is the nikka going kick before people acknowledge that he has a habit of mailing in some of these verses and sounding board while doing them


If anything has gotten stale it’s his inconsistent effort on when he wants to really rap and come with refreshing content or go into cruise control nostalgia regurgitation mode for 3 minutes

Biggest problem about working with Hit though, the part of the audience that don't like him gonna tune out if they haven't already. I don't know man, if you not feeling this one I respect that, but I appreciate this is nothing like Nas ever put out before, every album in this run bring something different to the table

But, put this with the original Magic, you basically got a double album with a throwback disc and modern disc that go real well together.

I hate hitboy production so much. These new school beats aren't for Nas. Motion is the first song I can sit through. I really hate this new money oriented Nas.
