In case y'all wonderin - this dope piano sample at the end of queens story comes from a tune of a Polish composer Frederick Chopin who lived in nineteenth century. It's called Revolutionary Étude and he wrote it when he got the message of a failed uprising in Poland against the Russians. Just representin. :king:

First post after 10 years of lurking on the other site.

Yeah, I stated this yesterday in the other thread when it first leaked. Cats ain't try to hear me though.:wtb:

Listening to this album now, too early to make a judgement, plus I'm at work so I can't give it a thorough listen like I want to. That said, A Queens Story is simply beautiful. Reminds me of some Showbiz & AG music. I can see Showbiz on the boards with Andre in the booth ripping that.

On another note, No Introduction was kinda disappointing. It's early yet so it may grow on me, but for right now it sounds like a Rocky Balboa sample that someone forgot to finish. I kept waiting for the pace to pick up and it's just not my pace. It's early yet though.

Black James Bond reminds me of that Havoc/Kool G Rap joint from some years back onthe Free Agents compilation. Dope shyt.

Regardless I can tell this is for the most part, a good album, and it goes without saying now that Nas is officially the greatest to ever do it. There's really nothing to discuss any longer.

this album is nas trying to come across as a great musical mogul and gain respect beyond the perceived shallow realm of hip-hop royalty. same thing common tried to do with dreamer/believer.

both attempts failed and both come across as stale, bland banquet tv dinners. i dont use the word "hot" to express music but this album is just not hot. its fukkin boring unless you wanna hear nas write and rap like the 40 year old he is over beats made by 40 year olds. tell me what song on this cd actually gets your blood pumpin and wanna hit the gas pedal and go make money and have fun. i cant find more than a couple.

this is what happens when rappers from the 90s try to come out with an "epic album".

im saying what everyone else is feeling but is too aprehensive to carve out in stone. only thing keepin this in anybodys tape deck is the fact that its a nas album in 2012 and the vague sense of nostalgia that goes along with it (which is enough to keep content those who just feign for anything closely resembling good old golden era hiphop with no charisma or excitability). once that wears off, this will go down as nothing special.

neg me.

Listened to this on the way to work ignorin' all the hype from ya'll. Cot damn did Esco deliver brehs! I'm zonin' out picturin' shyt duke is sayin', gettin' low key chills from some of the joints :damn:

Summer on Smash is still whack, but that "Life is Good" drop after the hook is catchy as fukk. Swizz damn near fukked up the song :pacspit:

C/S the ones that mentioned the engineerin' done on his voice. It really helps enhance the tracks. Dude was soundin' mad young like he stepped out of a time machine into the booth :mjpls:

This will be the first time I come out the pockets for an album since 2005. Gettin' that deluxe bundle w/ the shirt from Best Buy :krs:

Not gonna give it another spin until I have the CD blastin' on Tuesday :ahh:

^^^^engineering vocals is so important. Ever notice how much iller Ghost sounds when Rza records his shyt? Because he knows how to mix his vocals and coach a great performance out of him.

i want someone to wrangle Prodigy's ass in the stu and get that youthful murder music out of him instead of scary, low voiced threat P.

I'll give this a 3 out 5. Only because I was being sympathetic towards Nas fans.

Other than that my true rating would be 2.5 out 5.

Channel Orange though

SINY!!
y'all probably disagree but i think this his 2nd best album after obviously Illmatic. its strong top to bottom. I am not forcing myself to like songs. I'm replaying ish automatically cause i like the songs, not to force myself to give dude the benefit of the doubt just cause its Nas.

If he didn't release anything in between this and Illmatic....this would have been a perfect sequel to that first classic....just based off the flow, the feel, the production......

This is what Stillmatic should have been....

Great album.....

the RZA mentioned that he used to set each mic levels ready for each specific member and Ghostface had a way different level to most..when they moved to another studio in 95/96..he couldn't get the right exact touch on the ironman project..ghost's true sound was on cuban lynx..
