How is saying he wasn't any of those artists a shot at them especially since he was cool with Diddy at the time?

I DID see that line on Streets Disciple as a shot. Mainly because Nas was on his “Pure Hip Hop” steeze from Gods Son-Hip Hop Is Dead and Streets Disciple was Nas at his most gutter and anti-mainstream during the time. And Nas seemed to throw a couple of shots at specific mainstream artists (Snoop, Kanye, Camron, etc) all throughout that album.

That Nas era from 04-06 was an interesting time for him as an artist and a person. People forget Nas straight up dissed a LOT of artists during that time and seemed ready to go at it with whoever. There were still competitive shots at Hov. Jim Jones & Dipset, Mobb Deep, G-Unit, Lake, Nore, even Kobe Bryant and Tiger Woods caught strays

Nas calling out Nore and all those other rappers wasn't in rhyme though. He went at them on air on the radio in an angry rant, which he later said was because of what he was going through at the time.

And the Diddy line from "Purple" wasn't a shot. It was how Nas personally felt about what Diddy did to Shyne.

And "These Are Our Heroes" more so spoke on those particular celebrities because they were getting clowned for what was perceived as c00ning.

Diddy himself took that line on Purple as a diss and was mad as fukk about it.

He called Nas and told him “Wherever you are in the world right now, I’m coming to see you” lol

So Jungle, Jay Elec, Dead Prez and Quentin Miller are the geniuses behind Nas's brilliance? :ohhh:

It seems like every other year a new "Nas ghostwriter" story comes and goes. Dudes who write rhymes or really just know rhyming can hear that nobody writes Nas shyt except Nas. Nas style is one of one...even the dudes who try to emulate his flow/style sound like cheap knockoff versions, if Nas used a writer I think it'd be brutally obvious.

Rap Reviews.com review

Score 9.5/10

“For me, Nas is hip-hop distilled. Flirtations with pop ultimately grounded him, while battles, storytelling, and New York itself helped define him. From Large Professor to Hit-Boy, thirty years out of hip-hop’s fifty as a genre only adds to the fuel that Nas is the greatest of all time. The irony of records called “King’s Disease” showcasing him reinvigorated and re-energized, the very opposite of what a king’s disease is, isn’t lost on this writer. “Most of us catch it one time or another” he recites on “Ghetto Reporter”.

Most of us aren’t kings, Nas.

I knew once I read the name of the reviewer it was going to be a good score.

He reviewed both KD2 and Magic

KD2 scored an 8.5/10
Magic scored 9/10

Someone else on the site reviewed KD1 and gave it a 6.5/10 (crazy)

This will bring the metacritic score to 90

Allmusic and Exclaim are next up for reviews

Nas definitely threw shots, but those lines on "Disciple" weren't necessarily shots. The line on "Purple" offended Diddy, but Nas was basically saying how he didn't like how Diddy did Shyne with different lawyers.

"Ya'll appointed me to bring rap justice, but nah it ain't 5-0, ya'll know it's Nas yo"---- Nas, Made You Look

^^^ slick wordplay that could be perceived as a shot at 50 Cent

The coldest dart Nas threw at someone he wasn't beefing with was the wires in your mouth line from "Quick To Back Down".
Yeah bro but bottom line is Nas wasn’t biting his tongue for anybody around those times, friend or foe.

He also Ethered Lake on Don’t Body Yourself & especially Still Dreaming

This is fireeeee

This is Sticky Fingers though
Who said he was?? :gucci: That’s whys it’s such a great dart...It’s a bar. And yes it is a shot at Big, Pac, and Jay. Plain n simple. Stop canonizing Nas like he’s above being cocky and talking his shyt….don’t tell me it’s a great line (it is) but then in the same breath ‘oh nah nah he didn’t mean it like that’

No, ngga. He meant it exactly how it sounds, bc like you just said, it’s true.

This reads like you're arguing with yourself ....lol

People have taken two examples of songs that have credited other guys on it and interpreted as ghostwriters when the Jay elec/Dead prez is a production credit and QM is probably the vocals on the Pressure
