lot of people need to realise artists think bigger than just themselves when they make music and need to realise how lot of music is actually made

Like with Untitled, it was pretty clear Nas had a certain vision but like many great artists he wanted help with the vision. Music is collaborative. With Untitled, Dead Prez and Jay Elec clearly worked with Nas on concepts, song structure etc. Dead Prez said as much on Sway. And I'm sure lines/ hooks came from others. If Nas in the booth, and he's spitting, then of course someone might feedback and be like 'yo say it like this' or 'how about add that'. Even Hit Boy has 100% done that. And I'm sure same for QM.

There's a big difference between that and someone writing a verse and being like 'yo Nas. here's the verse i wrote for you. now spit it'

Nas calling out Nore and all those other rappers wasn't in rhyme though. He went at them on air on the radio in an angry rant, which he later said was because of what he was going through at the time.

And the Diddy line from "Purple" wasn't a shot. It was how Nas personally felt about what Diddy did to Shyne.

And "These Are Our Heroes" more so spoke on those particular celebrities because they were getting clowned for what was perceived as c00ning.

Nas such a cool dude that he can literally call a man out by name and nggas say ‘that’s not a shot’ :heh:

100% right. I gotta homie I produce for and I make observations during the recording process and then suggest changes every once in a while to make the verse flow better or whatever. Doesn't mean I crafted the verse, just assisted in making the song better.

This right here. It's hilarious seeing dudes with zero knowledge of how the songwriting and recording process work out here making proclamations :mjlol:

Not sure how much is trolling and how much is ignorance, probably a heavy dose of both. Dude's got a cowriting credit on one Nas song, been out there in the open all along. The cats who the Ether still burning wanna believe he penned the whole track, let em think that, who give a damn?

When I see someone take a shot at someone, it's a slight or diss. If I say I don't like the way you did someone or you handled a situation, how exactly is that a shot? Whereas if I say, you know you were wack for what you did to so and so, that's a shot.

This is an example of a shot:

"Two albums in, I'm the realistic nikka on the label"--- Nas, My President Is Black

^^^ shot at every artistbon Def Jam including Jeezy whose song Nas was featured in when he spit the verse

fukk around and you get wires in your mouth- Nas, Quick To Back Down

"Nas Escobar moving on your weak production"---- Nas, "Eye For An Eye"

^^^ wonder what Havoc felt when he heard that line

I DID see that line on Streets Disciple as a shot. Mainly because Nas was on his “Pure Hip Hop” steeze from Gods Son-Hip Hop Is Dead and Streets Disciple was Nas at his most gutter and anti-mainstream during the time. And Nas seemed to throw a couple of shots at specific mainstream artists (Snoop, Kanye, Camron, etc) all throughout that album.

That Nas era from 04-06 was an interesting time for him as an artist and a person. People forget Nas straight up dissed a LOT of artists during that time and seemed ready to go at it with whoever. There were still competitive shots at Hov. Jim Jones & Dipset, Mobb Deep, G-Unit, Lake, Nore, even Kobe Bryant and Tiger Woods caught strays

That might be why people dislike that era so much. Nas was at his height of ambition and concept creation, but he was also still carrying some aggression from 2001/2002. He even called himself the most crucified rapper of all-time when him and Jay did that joint interview with Sway. People probably felt hurt listening to his music from 2004-2008.
