One of many similarities between Nas and Prince. Try to drop what would be a dope triple album, get vetoed, label fukkery etc etc. At one point Nas asked to be dropped from Def Jam right? I could be mis-remembering but regardless there was a lot of tension there. And you can tell he's happy as fukk to have his own shyt now.

That's also such a bold move. Blu & Exile's Miles album is technically a triple album (LP), super dope. MF Grimm has a great triple album. Doubt we got folk fans but Joanna Newsom has a great triple album too lol.

Nas never asked to be “dropped” from Def Jam, he was angry about Lost Tapes 2 not being able to be released in winter 2011, and wrote an email to Def Jam that leaked out. But he never asked to be dropped or released.

SD was supposed to be a triple album but Sony wouldn’t allow it thats why songs like Serious, Good Morning, and Talk Of New York were removed
It's a travesty that these songs had to be removed from a Nas album. I listened to all of those a bunch when they first came out. Any idea of what other specific songs were supposed to be on SD?

There was a song called I Am Somebody featuring Diddy that’s never been heard but XXL talked about it on there review for the album

Get Up (sequel to Get Down)

Play On Playa, which ended up on Hip Hop Is Dead

Wanna Play Rough

Foul Breeze (which turned into Busta’s New York shyt)

Imagine (Salaam Remi was PISSED because they were working with Yoko Ono to clear the sample and somehow Pitbull got ahold of the song and put a verse on it and leaked it)

Also the producer for Runaway Love confirmed that a bunch of rappers recorded to the beat including Nas, but Ludacris was the only one who guaranteed it would be a single

Your right about Wanna Play Rough

There’s ANOTHER song with a similar theme that was for SD that leaked but I can’t remember the name

I know Foul Breeze leaked, I listen to it all the time I just didn’t link it.
Anybody Test?
