It's still early and my lists often change but right now...

Illmatic
IWW
Lost Tapes
Stillmatic
Life Is Good
God's Son
Magic
KD2
KD3
I Am
KD1
SD
HHID
Nastradamus
Untitled
Lost Tapes 2
Nasir

I had Magic above God's Son earlier this year but reverted back.
My list looks something like this …except the new albums are a lil too high imo

Love the album but this is 4 albums in a row cats have done this gassin it off the excitement. Excitement for great new music does not make it a “classic” or best in a discography. Ironically, thats disrespectful to the man’s discography.

If Streets disciple, God’s son, or Life is Good dropped brand new right this minute people would say top 5 Nas album. Bc when it’s new it’s pure adrenaline, but with time you calm down and can nitpick a lil and identify weaknesses. And yes this album (and all 4 Hit albums) does have weaknesses :whoa:

Untitled and Lost Tapes 2 are leaps and BOUNDS better than Nastradamus. Especially Untitled

Fair point. I think the top 4 is prob air tight for most people since it's prob gonna be some mixture of Illmatic, IWW, Stillmatic, and Lost Tapes. I feel like most people settled on Life Is Good being at least a top 6-7 album at least right? For me it's number 5.

SD is low on my list but it's one of those albums that super flawed yet underrated and fascinating to me. I always liked albums like that where you're like fukk...just a couple obvious changes could have made this a straight up 4/5. Hearing Salaam and Chucky Thompson talk about it interviews, the album was entirely different for much of the time they worked on it. Talk Of New York, Serious, and some other bangers were on there before being removed.

@Ziggiy it fluctuates so right now I'm just weighing the rapping on Nastradamus over Untitled. Also I don't fukk with most of the production on Untitled. Beats are underwhelming as fukk on there IMO and I'll always dislike the tone (I feel like it should have been more bombastic and aggressive like the mixtape). Nothing on the album is worse than the lowest lows on Nastradamus (Big Girl, Brave New World etc) but the highs of Nastradamus are just better to me. The Premo track, Life We Chose, Project Windows, etc.

Just my opinion :whoa: …tracks 1-7 is a lil choppy. The intro is just aight, then I’m not a fan of 30, recession proof, or Michael and Quincy

8-17 is immaculate…other than the first part of WTF SMH. Thr beat and concept is cringey

LIG is definitely a top 5 Nas album though :banderas: might actually be top 3 for me now, it gets better the :flabbynsick:er I get

But I agree don't think I can put anything from KD-Magic era above Illmatic, IWW, Stillmatic, Lost Tapes, LIG or God's Son. That just a testament to the strength of the catalog though. Magic close to a 5/5 for me and KD1-3 not far behind that. Hit-Boy so good as a producer for Nas. Not just a beatmaker but actually tapping in creatively and making super cohesive, consistently dope albums that's unprecedented far as quality for a hip hop artist of Nas age and stature

SD was supposed to be a triple album but Sony wouldn’t allow it thats why songs like Serious, Good Morning, and Talk Of New York were removed

One of many similarities between Nas and Prince. Try to drop what would be a dope triple album, get vetoed, label fukkery etc etc. At one point Nas asked to be dropped from Def Jam right? I could be mis-remembering but regardless there was a lot of tension there. And you can tell he's happy as fukk to have his own shyt now.

That's also such a bold move. Blu & Exile's Miles album is technically a triple album (LP), super dope. MF Grimm has a great triple album. Doubt we got folk fans but Joanna Newsom has a great triple album too lol.
