Yea him and ye dont have the best relationship. Hitboy produced kd1 and kd2Wait is that Hit Boy from the controversy over who he was working with? I feel like he had drama with Ye.
Kings disease 1 and 2 are both well rounded. Sonically both fit today and it let's Nas be Nas in 2021.It's crazy but I've admitted to myself that this is my favorite Nas album.
Of course other albums have higher highs I guess. But my mother in law can enjoy this album. My babies can enjoy it. My wife loves it. With other nas albums I felt like I forced them to listen. Not this shyt Nas the goat
Sonically I appreciate it- Nas is constantly evolving and it sounds like he found a good producer. He's always suffered with a "bad ear" which has hurt his reputation in comparison to Jiggaman.
Rewinding att just starting from Diamonds. I appreciate that Nas "lays it all out on these albums" where he acknowledges his flaws and sounds sober.
If I reflect back to Nasir and my main complaint he was that it was unmixed properly because it was rushed.
"I'm washing my hands of the soap opera shyt"
Thank you bro. Nas having a terrible ear is a complete lie. He has some stinkers just like every other artist has stinkers. The main difference is Jay has alot of stinkers that are commercial attempts and Nas doesnt do commercial attempts anywhere near Jay. If you go through Jay's album he has plenty of trash songs that dont get highlighted. The media has helped push that nas weak beat narrative because they want to knock nas anyway they can.Nas has never had a "bad ear" and I think this why people always say Nas has a "bad ear" for beats. Nas and Jay are two different artists. Jay always kept his albums packed with top tier producers supplying him their best beats for the most part. That still didn't prevent some of those same top tier producers giving him some stinkers that resulted in inconsistent and overall weak albums.
Nas had top shelf production from lesser known producers. He also had stinkers from the lesser known producers that resulted in inconsistent and overall weak albums. People highlight the stinkers in Nas's catalog because it's far easier to critique a weak beat from an L.E.S. or a Salaam Remi than it is a Kanye, Timbaland, or Dre because of the name recognition.
It also doesn't help that when Nas foes get a track from a Timbaland or Kanye, people are expecting Nas to be rapping over something that is "Big Pimpin", "nikka What, nikka Who" or "Guess Who's Back" or "Heart of the City. When people get "You Won't See Me Tonight", "You Owe Me" or "Still Dreamin" instead, they claim Nas can't pick beats not understanding the beats were tailored to Nas and that Nas would sound out of place on those beats that Jay rapped over.
