I can see Nas bringing in DJ Premier to do half the album with Hitboy, coming full circle. At this point working with Premo again is all that's left. He done brought back The Firm, Dr Dre, & Lauryn Hill.

I can't see him doing a double album again (don't even remember the last double album we had in hip-hop). But one of the biggest hurdles with Nas doing that Premo album was always scheduling. I remember a couple years after the Scratch Magazine cover Premo was asked about it in an interview and he said he bumped i to Nas somewhere and Nas asked him if he did the album would he be able to tour it? I forget the response, but Premo was basically saying their schedules didn't usually mesh and that was a concern at the time for Nas. Doing an entire project like that and not being able to tour off of it.

Covid lockdowns would have deaded any of those fears, so I think if it ain't happen post-Covid, it probably ain't happening.

Not to mention, how many philosophical mythical albums has Premo failed to produce his damn self? His solo album/compilation was supposed to drop in like 2004 or some shyt.

:deadrose:

Nobody has even mentioned the DJ Premier vs. Pete Rock album, and them n*ggas actually did do a tour promoting it a few years ago. And not a single song ever came out of it, at least not that we know about. Plus the "real" NYGz album, the Year Round Records compilation album, and probably a few more I'm forgetting. Only one he actually did end up doing was the new Gang Starr album, which actually did have some minor Nas contribution to it with the promo "Aiiight, chill" remake skit.

Looks like Rolling Stone won’t be doing a review for KD2 (Thank GOD) and HipHopDX’s review hasn’t been added as part of the aggregate so it looks like KD2’s Metacritic score will top out at 88. Which is tied with Tyler The Creator as the most critically acclaimed rap album of the year! It also stands at number 14 amongst criticall acclaim regardless of genre (To put that in proper perspective, there are 5 albums with a score of 88 and Nas is only in 14th position by proxy of release date)

This is an INCREDIBLE feat for a rapper 30 years in the mainstream. Jay-Z didn’t accomplish this with 4:44. Eminem didn’t accomplish this with Music To Be Murdered By. Dr Dre didn’t accomplish this with Compton.

Only the GOAT:ahh:

The only other big review site I can think of is allmusic.com but guess they aren't doing one either

NaS has 12 Top 5's total with "Distant Relatives" and "The Firm". Drake doesn't have 10 Top 5 Solo's. They are counting "What a Time, More Life, Dark Lane and If you reading this" as his Top 5's. Those are considered Compilations and mixtapes. Not the same as Solo's. Drake only has 5 Top 5 Solos. Jay, Em and Wayne's numbers are right because they're albums are considered Solo Top 5.

Watching what Nas has been doing this past year has been like watching a Hall of Fame athlete who people thought was nearing retirement suddenly have an MVP caliber season on their way to a championship…

…all while debunking long-running narratives and checking boxes (“what’s up with Nas’s beat selection? why doesn’t Nas have any Grammy’s? whatever happened to The Firm?”, etc.)…simply amazing to see.
