And let me make myself clear as a Nas fan to the Nas Stan. I'm not saying this album won't be revisited down the years and get it's Classic Rating that y'all fill it deserve right now but check this out this is Nas new beginning of his 2nd half of his career and it's eerie similar to his first of his career. King Disease 1 is his Illmatic and King Disease 2 is his It Was Written

That's not true his Emceeing on King Disease 1 was better lyrically, technically, poetry, story telling then on King Disease 2 we seen a vicious combination of an elder Nasty Nas, The Wiser leader Boss of the family Nas Escobar, elder Black revolutionary Nasir and God Son that came together and blended perfectly, very similar to Pac on 7 Day Theory when different sides The Black Panther Rebel of The Underground, The Thug, The Poet, The torture blues Man, The West Coast Rider, The Black Jesus learn to co exist together.

King Disease is a better album then King Disease 2 not only lyrically but sonically Ultra Black was that single that this album didn't have, Car 85, The Firm reunion and so much more, The album just have that feeling that you listening to something great, an event. I can go on. But hip hop fans know that album was Nas

King Disease 2 was beating my Chest, acknowledge me, I'm that Gangsta, I got that money now, I'm that nikka that from the east coast that didn't back down from Pac and Hit-Boy I'm better than my teacher. It felt like they wanted the respect that they deserve when really they had the respect, and that's why in some of the fan's and music critic eyes it seem forced.

It's a great hip hop album, Not a Classic Album and not better than the original

Breh... everything about KD2 is better than KD1.

You really think Nas was spitting harder on KD1, REALLY? You think the flows and production was better on KD1?? You gotta listen again man.

I agree KD2 is not a classic, but it runs circles around the original, way more highs.

Like I said its not a loud opinion but with this album and the last one theres a complaint about how the structure of the veres his too laid back (Even talking to people personally I know some that wish Death Row East was more a linear, 2 or 3 verses of straight talking about the Pac situation like Last Real nikka Alive)

Again its a small complaint, its one I disagree with but Ive noticed thats one negative thing some people have said. But again dont get it twisted its not people saying its an issue (other than CaCFork)

I LOVE both albums but I actually think this is a valid complaint, especially with KD1.

KD1 left me starving for Nas verses because all his verses except maybe 10 points and the cure were short as hell, and even those didn't have the depth you'd usually expect in a Nas verse.

I love Death Row East as is, but he could have easily went a little deeper and flowed longer than he does currently. If we being honest he didn't say THAT much on it.

Both albums are good to me, but some of Nas verses left me wanting just a little bit more.

That's intentional and I appreciate it...

He isnt competing against the production and staying within his zone. He's currently rhyming in the same patterns as the early Nas, back to his core. He's not adding filler words like he was doing a for a few albums.

He now comes off as his natural self as he is a laid back dude. Also, he is doing more narration and ad-libs which he used to do alot during the Stillmatic era.

Like I said I think that was all done on purpose to let the beat breath and not let Nas overwrite and just find a balance. But for sure as long time Nas fans we are used to hearing him rap into super detail about subjects etc.

But Im okay with this. He aint gotta attack the rim with the althecism hes found a mid range jumper at near 50

Exactly.

People want Nas to be Kendrick or Big Sean and
overwrite songs.

Like you said, Nas found a balance and his vibe, so naturally all current somgs comes off as authentic

:mjlol: Nobody else in the history of the genre gets this level of scrutiny for not being an 11 out of 10 with every single release. Every track has to be absolutely perfect to their liking. Yet y’all celebrate dudes on here daily that aren’t even half of Nas..so called “legends” too. But I guess that’s the price you pay for being the greatest to ever do this shyt.

nikkas been hating me since I been nine, shining
With suede motherfukking balles on in silks
I'ma always be the young don, don't be like the nikkas on the other side

Definitely hear everything you've been saying. Glad to read well thought out dissenting opinions.

But just wanted to say the thought of Nas having enough future work to where KD can be considered an actual halfway point of his catalog :wow::ahh:

He’s always being held to a different standard if anyone else released this album it’s 99 on metacritic and heralded as an all time classic but for critics Nas has always been most hated.

They like the faux pro black rappers like Kendrick or the weirdo rappers who experiment with more cac respected genres even if it doesn’t sound good I.e Yeezus, these people should have no say on the culture or music, you’ve got posters on here like @IllmaticDelta who would put the vast majority of these music critics to shame when it comes to knowledge..

How am I supposed to take your opinions on music seriously when you don’t even have any rhythm:mjlol:

I respect this take. You backed up your ideas and i agree with parts but i simply enjoy the music on KD2 more. I also have recent bias since this just came out and is fresher but for now I’m enjoying it more than KD1. Kill me, but KD1 was sonically more boring except 27 Summers.
