Save that for another day lol

but I semi get what you’re saying. There arent obviously any records where he has a crazy concept like say “I gave You Power” or “Rewind”…there are no super politically charged records like “Poison” or “My Country”. But at this point in his career even THAT would be expected of him to do because he’s done it in the past and done it so well…its almost expected to hear him do shyt like that over new production. But he doesnt need to do those records for him to have a dope album which is evident with KD2. He can literally coast (IN THE SENSE OF SONG IDEAS…NOT SKILL) and make an enjoyable record without it being super political or conceptually crazy. Instead of focusing an dedicating entire records to that shyt, he’s sprinkled it around throughout different verses on the album. as far as the hunger thing, you could maybe say that on KD1 because in comparison to this new one, he seemed to be on cruise control (still at a high level though). He’s playing with more flows on this one.

That's basically what i'm saying.

And running the last few songs back there's some stronger lyrics so again I'm not saying he's Ross level one dimmensional.

Even a storytelling joint would be dope. He's one of the greatest storytellers ever but he doesn't utilise it as much.

Son said it feels closer to a 2000’s Jay-Z album… :mjlol:… Yeah, something like My Bible would fit perfectly next to Money, Cash, Hoes.
That was 1998

and as far as the vibe…yes…I can see why he would be Blueprint type vibes from the record because of the cohesiveness of the production and the kind of tone of the records. But I get Jay is the trigger so let’s say Common “Be”/Finding Forever

The shyt don’t sound like a Hov album in no early 00s content wise at all bruh. shyt not even MCHG Jay. That’s a different animal. That cat is buggin. The content is only the same if u remove all context.
Nope. Not at all

Jay didn’t really break that true threshold of airing his dirty laundry or life out like that until 4:44

Not to say Hov didn’t have personal records about his past, regarding his pops, his brother, mother, the block… but a true personal Hov album… yeah that was 4:44.

It’s not Jay early 00s. And it’s not Be/Finding Forever either. It’s Nas’ evolution from LIG. Even Blueprint Jay isn’t really a great comparison content wise.

I didnt mention content. I specifically did not mention content. Im talking about the cohesiveness and overall tone/vibe of the albums.

The story telling joint is "Death Row East".

There ARE a lot of conceptual tracks on this album. My Bible, Nobody, Brunch on Sundays and Death Row East are all conceptual. Just because he doesn't have joints like Queens Wolf and Project Roach (which ironically he's usually criticized for :dead:) doesn't mean it's not creative.
