Y’all seem to not get the point. No one cares about a fukkin pitchfork review but when someone like that can do a review in bad faith and screw over Nas’ critical acclaim in one swoop just to change the narrative of his work it needs to be called out. fukk all that ignoring shyt this type of shyt needs to be highlighted so we can boot these muthafukkas out of the culture.
I went to their page on twitter and told them stop allowing that geek to review Nas albums.

I agree its a awful review but they didnt give KD1 a good review either. I dont think rolling stones did either. Still was nominated and won a grammy. Cause the public loved it. I dont think these publications have much sway like they used to. Its impossible to get universal acclaim. Everything aint for everybody. But its gotten wide spread acclaim and thats good enough for me.

I can't lie the more I listen to this the thing that stands out is Nas' content is a lot more shallow now. Most of the songs are bragging about money. Now Nas has always been one of the best at fly talk right from the beginning, but man it just sounds like damn near every verse is just money talk.

I'm not saying there isn't any other content beyond that but just feels like he has less to say. This feels closer to a 2000s era Jay-Z album.

And I get it, Nas seems legitmately happy and in a good place. He's not the same person he was in the past but I hold him up to a high standard and with all that's going on in the world and America you'd think he could do more than just rap about material shyt.

I still like the album but that hunger just isn't there from him anymore.

This is what u got from this album fam? Why don’t u just chalk it up to u don’t fukk wit Nas no more u nikkas on some other shyt. U ain’t even using critical listening when it comes to him anymore cause u don’t like the aesthetic. “All he talks about is money”. What a joke fam.

I knew it was a mistake coming in here and posting that. Something switched on the Coli where any critique of Nas is immediately jumped on.

I didn't say all he talks about money but large portion of his content is now money talk. There's songs and verses that do have other content but the balance was a lot better in his older work. And I get it, he's richer and more comfortable now. He's not gonna drop another Untitled.

@THE 101

The Nas money talk thing is probably cuz of his recent successful business ventures in the last decade or so. From his own pockets to the opportunities getting presented to folks in the hood

He even touched on it in the last King’s Disease

“Creating jobs, named my venture from after the land
I came from, that's unheard of
A hood that's known for murder now doing mergers”

Nas is more business savvy so similar to Hov in a way yeah, but there’s still diverse topics.

The shyt don’t sound like a Hov album in no early 00s content wise at all bruh. shyt not even MCHG Jay. That’s a different animal. That cat is buggin. The content is only the same if u remove all context.

Save that for another day lol

but I semi get what you’re saying. There arent obviously any records where he has a crazy concept like say “I gave You Power” or “Rewind”…there are no super politically charged records like “Poison” or “My Country”. But at this point in his career even THAT would be expected of him to do because he’s done it in the past and done it so well…its almost expected to hear him do shyt like that over new production. But he doesnt need to do those records for him to have a dope album which is evident with KD2. He can literally coast (IN THE SENSE OF SONG IDEAS…NOT SKILL) and make an enjoyable record without it being super political or conceptually crazy. Instead of focusing an dedicating entire records to that shyt, he’s sprinkled it around throughout different verses on the album. as far as the hunger thing, you could maybe say that on KD1 because in comparison to this new one, he seemed to be on cruise control (still at a high level though). He’s playing with more flows on this one.

You're right about people being attacked for criticizing Nas on the coli. But I disagree with you about what you said.

THIS is an example of a legitimate critique.

It’s not even about opinions being different. The shyt was off base as hell. Then tryna hide behind the “u can’t have opinions in here” like that shyt wasn’t completely off base. Lol Especially right in lieu of that fukked up Pitchfork review. Lol. I can’t hold u I wasn’t here for the bullshyt. My guy been complaining since KD1. I don’t dislike him as a poster tho.
