You admitted to being a Jay guy, I respect that you can come in a Nas thread and be cordial
:salute: Daps and reps. Thx for having me. @Ziggiy knows I like Nas.

I'm not a Jay stan or a goofy message board warrior, and that's the difference.

It's super cliche, but Jay and Nas have always been my 2 favorite rappers. I just always preferred Jay's catalogue slightly in my youth, and I'm the first to admit that I was kind of a follower of the narrative that Nas' beat selection wasn't as dope, and that Jay was a little bit more well rounded.

But ever since Life Is Good, I've had to call it like I see it. I think I was a bit unfair to some of Nas' albums that came after God's Son, while being a little too easy on some of Jay's albums that came after Black Album.

I think they'll always be my 2 favorite rappers, but the older I get (mid 30's now) the more and more I appreciate Nas every year.

@dubsmith_nz deserves props too for being another Jay guy to show Nas a lot of love

I actually just skimmed through it. Production actually sounds dope too. What a Dumb ass idea :snoop:
I was so confused as to why you would throw his annoying ass all over your album when he had no involvement. I’m not a huge fan of Tyler admittedly but I tried to give it a shot and he pulls that shyt :russ: I asked my homeys who like Tyler and they just said “it’s the vibe he was going for”

Nahhh man, idk why LT2 gets so much hate, is it as good as the first one? No.....but it's def got some bangers......No Bad Energy, Lost freestyle, Tanasisa, Who are you, The Art of it, Adult Film, Queens wolf, Beautiful Life...... LT2 is at least 4/5 for me, if not 4.5 out of 5......to me its better than KD part 1

Breh, everyone has their own tastes when it comes to music and Nas's various styles over the years. I agree with everything you said about LT2. LT2 is a top 5 Nas album to me, whereas I felt KD1 was largely forgettable.

You 100% right and we know what the reaction would be immediately, 20 minutes after the album drops: "it's not as good as Illmatic. Sounds dated. Trying to recreate the past." It's impossible to satisfy these people when they're waiting to tell you that you failed. Nas could literally drop something better than Illmatic lyrically and beat wise, with the same producers...and there would be hate. Because the album would be competing with a period of time. 93/94, golden era, when all these 40-50yo dudes were still young and enjoying life with fewer responsibilities...you can't compete against the past.

Pete is still dope and yes I would like to see another collab...but I don't need an album of Illmatic producers. Give me a couple Premo beats and Pete...maybe Large Pro. And then the rest of the placements go to Hit Boy, Just Blaze, whoever.
No doubt. Yeah, you can't recreate the past and it would be absolutely framed in comparison to Illmatic if he tried to make a sequel, even if it was an unofficial sequel.

This is all the proof I need. QB Politics is a beautiful song. I love it. It's one of my favorites on Lost Tapes 2. From what I understand, that actual beat was made on Pete's SP-1200 circa 1994/1995, and even though the song was recorded after Prodigy passed, the beat itself is super old.

As much as I love that song, the beat itself is from the Illmatic era and I don't want to hear a full Nas album of beats like that.

I hated Drama yelling over that shyt. The trend of DJs yelling over music going the way of the dinosaurs is one of the best things ever to happen to hip-hop. In fact it might need an appreciation thread. I can't understand why anyone would want to bring it back for any reason.

Wow. Doggie diamonds bytch ass talkin bout he not gonna listen cause it’s hitboy. Another nikka said Def Jam must but tryna keep the budgets low cause he’s using hitboy again. Nas ain’t signed to def jam u bozo. Smh.

doggie diamonds' opinions are always shaded with his pro-brooklyn favoritism (biggie and jayz stan, last time I checked)
