Does Nas still need Rick Ross to executive produce his albums? Or y'all finally ready to give in that after 30yrs on stage, ( n still relevant) he just might know wtf he's doing

N y'all be dead serious with them statements
Ye of little faith

I mean, it'd be nice for sure, but saying it's "needed" is folks doing the most. Nas knows what he's doing.

I was on a twitter live chat last night with KXNG Crooked talking about Nas ear for beats being in question (at the question of another listener) and Crooked answered that shyt perfectly by saying that Nas essentially knows what he's doing and saying that whatever beats he picks ultimately brings out the classic verses he wants to spit. So it is what it is.

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
I’ve ALWAYS hated that “Ross should produce a Nas album” bullshyt. Thats the most disrespectful shyt ever. Nas a thirty year veteran needs a nikka whose career is built off emulating It Was Written era Escobar to choose his beats? Ridiculous
I mean I get that but that ain’t Ross fault. Lol

I liked Em's verse for what it was, but I DO wish he was rapping more straightforward, like on the Fat Joe/Kid Cudi joints from last year, instead of trying to switch his flow every 30 seconds

After a few spins this is how I currently have it rated Song by song

1. Pressure- 4.5/5
2. Death Row East- 4.5/5
3. 40 Side- 4/5
4. EPMD 2- 3/5
5. Rare- 5/5
6. YKTV- 3/5
7. Store Run- 5/5
8. Moments- 5/5
9. Nobody- 5/5
10. No Phony Love- 3.5/5
11. Brunch on Sundays- 3.5/5
12. Count Me In- 4.5/5
13. Composure- 5/5
14. My Bible- 4.5/5
15. Nas is Good- 5/5

Average score= 4.25 mics

Which sounds about perfect. He shoulda cut epmd and yktv. Brunch on Sundays and no phony love were ok but the samples were super generic. Doesn't help that they were sandwiched between all the best tracks on the album. Kinda fukked up the momentum of the 2nd half. They're not bad tracks but definitely coulda done without em. They actually woulda fit better on the first album.

Everything else I had no issue with. Even 40 side which some people don't seem to like. I Like the beat and Nas went in. This is way better than the first though. Glad to hear Nas over some soulful boom bap and back with the introspective raps. And they ended it perfectly with My Bible and Nas is Good.

Nipsey woulda been so perfect on My Bible :mjcry:

But all in all I'm really enjoying it. And I think some of these tracks could make it on a Nas greatest hits album. And that's all I was hoping for.

Haven't read the thread but how many are already calling this a classic and one of Nas best ever? :russ:

Listened to most and its better than first KD. Nas spitting with more intensity here. Beats are cool, but always seems like there's something missing with these hit boy beats.

I'll be :unimpressed: for the rest of the morning.

Im listening to what hes saying and I feel it .. heavy

Theres a producer called Budgie from the UK ... hes known for putting tapes together of Gospel music and sometimes making nice beats out of it. Him and Alc made two great tapes let not get it twitsted ... But I saw him on IG bigging up the fact that he had credits on Kanye latest shyt... All he did was grab a 45 that he had on the floor, Kanye made people perform it live, like only Kayne could . I think this is what Hitboy referring to.

Even when you listen to that "good book" vol.1 and 2 .. you can tell its ALC that put that shyt together.

In these studio sessions .. there's maaad people coming together with ideas that get credits for major grammys or whatever, just because they supplied the vinyl for the sample.. I hear what Hitboy is saying

He deserves his Flowers.
Budgie is pretty dope. That's wild I didn't know any of that about him and Kanye

The beat for 40 Side is based on One Mic. It elevates the same way and drops at the chorus. Nas just flowed different. But if you rap the One Mic lyrics along to it you can hear it.

Between this, the 2pac sounding joint and the ATLiens one, Hit-Boy is crazy with this shyt the way he pulling from old joints and flipping em
