Nas gonna be here making music for at least another 20 years.. I'm here for it all. These are legendary times we're living in. He could happily live life rich and not drop shyt and he's still here giving us classics.

If Nas can do it why can't other top MCs from the same era?
Cause they ain’t nas

On second spin. First listen wasn’t feeling 40 side as much as the others but it’s fire

also props to Nas. For someone with his wealth now from investments he could talk about it constantly. But he’s a poet and an artist and that wealth shyt is needless in rap. He keeps that shyt for the most part private bar the odd line or two

This is a great point. That's one of the reasons he's eclipsed Jay for my #1 all time. Jay has leaned way too heavy on the wealth and the opulence the last 15ish years whereas while Nas is wealthier than damn near any other MC, he's stayed true to his core of making music that speaks to all of us.

Finished the album. Just Flames. Im going to let it breathe before saying its better the KD1 but it def sounds on par. I still think KD1 was amazing. I can say off rip I like car 85 better then No phony love even though thats a decent track. I think I might like this production a little bit more. Maybe its close :ohhh:.

That L Bougie verse my lord

As for EMs verse I thought he got busy on there. :yeshrug: I see no issues with it. Hes a humble dude though. He gotta know hes looked at as an all time great by most by now. It was dope hearing EPMD trade bars again:blessed:Nas 2nd verse before Em came in was flames too. I really enjoyed that track personally

My bruhs......this album is WAY better than KD1........Store Run, Moments, Nas is Good, Rare, is my shyt......that soulful storytelling is when Nas is at his best.....

Coulda did w/o the Em verse on EPMD 2 and that YKTV track but other than that this album is :whew:

Also, Death Row East is just a dope story track.....anyone catch the reference of Nas basically exonerating Stretch of any involvement in the setup and the Quad city studio shooting? I always knew Stretch wasn't involved bc that was Pac's right hand man......that was a time when Pac was gettin extra paranoid around his homies.... Stretch was a real one though, he was murdered a year later in Queens in a high speed chase with like 5 bricks in his car. If you Google it there's actually a New York Times archived article about it.

Btw, I didn't know Eric B (of Eric B and Rakim) was in the Death row East management or with them......that was a surprise when Nas mentioned his name...thought he was talkin bout Lake.......Nas also mentions Preem.....does he mean Dj premier?

1). Yes Nas mentioned that the day Stretch died he had just dropped Nas back off in Queensbridge.

2). Eric B spoke on being part of Death Row East in an interview maybe three years ago I believe? Said he was supposed to be the President.

I'll keep it 100, Before KD1 I was never a big fan of Hit boy beats.....always thought he was more of a trap/ mumble rap/ commercial producer.....but he showed his versatility working with Nas.....some of the beats are a tad minimalist for my taste, or have no melody, like YKTV, and the Lauryn track (no build up) but those little jazzy infusions in some of the songs fit Nas well..... some of the beats are very Low End Theory-ish to me, if that makes sense.

But low key does anyone miss having a Primo or Pete Rock or Alchemist banger on there? On some Nas is Like or You Da Man type vibes?
