People like to categorize others with the title “GROUPIE” when their posts read like the actual definition of the word. People try to pass their idea or expectation of an album onto others. People use words like “safe” or “surface” as if these words are edgy. When in reality an artist produces works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power. Has it ever cross the mind of those who feel Nas made a “safe” album with KD that Nas is in a safe place & his iuppermost layer of emotion (surface) was feeling light, free and happy so therefor his creation reflected that. Everything doesn’t have to be “deep” sometimes people want to cruise and just relax.

I never seen another artist be analyzed as harshly as Nas. It’s as if KD made some upset bc it truly is an album that was created for everyone to enjoy. Isn’t that the meaning of “replay value.” Besides it’s an album not a damn video game. Relax and let the music soothe you.
This is exactly what I'm talking about with you Nas groupies:scust:

This gotta be the biggest load of bullshyt I ever heard :mjlol:......there's not a single artist in the game who doesn't get their music critiqued. Go look in the Isaiah Rashad thread. Go look in all of Kendricks threads. Go Look in J coles threads.

The main difference is that fans of those artists aren't as emotional as you Nas stans. That's always been y'all reputation since the sohh days. Yall never wanna let anybody have their own opinion on his music. If somebody doesn't agree that his album is a classic yall start throwing tantrums.

It's not enough to say Kings disease was just a good album. Nope. It's gotta be a classic. And nothing you said refutes the fact that kings disease was a surface level and SAFE album. "B b but maybe Nas was just in a happy place in his life!!!":mjlol:......yea and that's exactly why I said the album is perfect to chill and cruise to. But still doesn't change the fact that there wasn't much substance behind it. You can cry about that all you want but it's the truth.

"JUST LET NAS BE HIMSELF!!":mjcry:

Man get outta here with that emotional shyt. This is a message board where we all come together and give our opinions of EVERYBODY'S music. And no artist is above that, including Nas. If you wanna believe all of Nas's albums are classics go right ahead. But you stans don't get to dictate how the rest of us feel. Understand that shyt.

But I'm done with this retarded shyt. It's a waste of my time. I'ma drink on something and wait for the new joint to drop. I'm expecting something special. I'll be back in a few hours with all of my thoughts

And with that said not everyone like the same shyt and it’s further proof Nas needs to just keep doing what he wants. Lol.
Fanbase like some true Democrat vs Republican shyt:mjlol:

Yeah it’s ok to be objective about a Nas album.

I thought the production on KD 1 was a 8/10

Lyrically & flow-wise a 6.5/10

Content and conceptually was like 7/10

It was a solid album for real. But I just know fo a fact this sequel will go crazier. First KD was a nice reintroduction to Nas for modern era rap listeners

I agree that Nas ain’t above criticism and his fans can be sensitive. They can also be his worst enemy as well. But to say Nas hasn’t been the most criticized rapper throughout the course of his career is some straight cappin as shyt. Lol. Nas absolutely gets dissected more than any other hip hop artist bar none. But fukk all that not everyone gonna like the same shyt and nikkas need to accept that. Peace.

Oh for sure. And I think that's why the first album furthered his legacy. Cause even though the quality was a little watered down. Nas was still able to do something that not a lot of artists from the 90's have been able to do. Which is adapt his sound and make an album that could be appreciated by newer generations. He floated on the trap beats and showed his versatility in that sense.

Now with this new album I'm hoping they found that middle ground. I don't mind some trap and new age tracks. But also wanna hear Nas snapping on some breakbeats again. And I think they're gonna do it. I got a feeling this is gonna be crazy too.

Opinions will always vary regarding ANY subject (sports, film, music, politics, etc). However, that doesn't mean there isn't a concensus.

Let's make one thing clear...

The consensus is that KD is a great album. The reception Nas received from fans and the industry was insanely positive last year. It will forever be known as a Grammy-winning album and it was more than deserved. Nas' approach for that album paid off.
