If you don't like Kings Disease I don't know what more you want. That album is as well rounded of an album in 2020 that you will get from from a 30 year vet. Sonically it really hits all demographics.
yeah i tried to put my bias down as a Nas stan but this is a really easy listen for the avg person in my opinion.

I can see why a “real hip hop” dude would dislike it but even those people would fukk with the first three tracks, and some others right.

It’s a great album on every level and I’m glad it’s being accepted. Just saw HipHopDX gave it a 4.1 (out of 5). I’m not a reviews guy but I imagine rap sites to review it well. Not too many reviews since it’s an indie release.

For some reason I feel like that surprise album involves dj premier/dr dre production which will cater to that supposed real hip hop crowd.

Yo where does King's Disease opener rank on the Nas Classic intro list:jbhmm:?:damn:

If by "intro" you mean the first song we hear...

NYSOM
The Message
Stillmatic Intro
Get Down
NYSOM 2
Doorags
Queens Get The Money
Money Over Bullshyt
9. King's Disease
Life We Chose
...

Number 9 seems low but when you realize that Nas has, and it's not arguable imo, the best album opener records of any rapper ever, 9 is still fire.

Nas verse in Full Circle is so underrated
I LOVE that shyt...but it's to be expected, this the first time the casual listener has heard AZ in probably 20 years, and he still sounds like AZ. Plus Foxy on there, etc... There's a lot of other factors about that record that take the spotlight off of Nas and how dope his verse was.

Insignificant posting from an insignificant poster
King's D made me go back to Nasir and Lost Tapes Deux...

and made me appreciate those releases moreso than their initial release time.

High key the last three releases by the God's Son could be one of the greatest trio of consecutive albums by an artist since Nas's first three albums (I enjoyed I AM).

Esco really is the goat.

Goes back to the beginning. Gotta remember that there was a ton of noise from "real heads" that IWW was wack and a sellout album when it dropped. IWW was a monster. It stayed at #1 four weeks in a row and dominated summer '96. That made those dudes mad. Pac and BIG getting shot sort of overshadow how huge IWW was and the related backlash in the Hip Hop History books now.

There was always that portion of the fanbase that wanted him to spend his career trying to recreate Illmatic. These negative narratives started there and never went away.
Yeah, I never got that IWW being a sellout talk, look at joints like Shootouts, I Gave u power, Take it in Blood and Affirmative Action, how are those joints sellouts? And If I Ruled the World was Hip hop, with the Kurtis Blow hook on a break beat. I will never understand that shyt, even back in 96 :gucci:
