He didn’t stop making music. He drops music or guest appearances every year since his last album. This has been his largest album gap but it’s not that serious.

All of that but you rarely see nas in the mainstream. That's what people are talking about. The large gap means a lot. People and younger people at that, wants to see Nas more in the mainstream. He fukking Nicki so people want to see nas at more events, more award shows, promoting his brand on higher platforms. Jay almost did the super bowl, performed for Obama, and his face is almost everywhere. nikkas want to see the same with Nas. Almost everybody tours.

Again that's on people we can't be criticizing someone who is arguably the best to ever do it because he didn't sell us more products. He did his job he has been an amazing artist and successful at it that should be what matters. Snoop is a brand, Jay is a powerful endorser his celebrity is his brand unlike snoop whose character is his brand. Nas likes to play the background and up until his divorce people though he wasn't even caking like that then it came out that he had several businesses including the rock the bells festival at the time. He never branded it as Nas festival like Jay made in America. He doesn't care about that shyt. He has been more business oriented in the last decade but the artistry also slowed down. I can wait for the next album.

Right now you could play UNTITLED which was ahead of its time and speaks to today in a most relevant way and still be satisfied. Real art has no expiry date.

I understand that shyt ain't important to him, but people want to see arguably the greatest rapper of all time(and imo he is the GOAT) come out and be around more.

Or just maybe Nas made the choice he didn't want to be apart of RD. I bet you never thought of that being the reason. I'm around Nas and he is far from lazy. He is a thinker and he makes sure that whatever he attaches his name to makes sense to him. Nas is involved in many things that the public has no knowledge about and he doesn't feel the need to make PR statements about his every move or potential business venture. People can think what they want it won't stop Nas from doing whatever he wants/when he wants.

Let’s keep it 100. Jay is ten times more talented than either 50 or Nelly. I think it’s a disservice to say he’d be Nelly/50 status without Beyoncé.


The “Nas is lazy” thing hasn’t been true since Illmatic. Yes, Nas was a little lazy when he was younger. But again we’re talking about a young prodigy from the projects. Nas was 18 damn years old when he was signed to a major label. All kids are lazy at some point or another.

After Illmatic Nas work ethic improved greatly. Just because he took two years between projects doesn’t mean he wasn’t touring, filming movies, assisting other artists, etc.

You can’t tell me the man who made It Was Written, The OG I Am, and ghostwrote for Foxy Brown has no work ethic.

Nas was outselling Jay in 99 so miss me with this “Nas made himself unknown” bullshyt. Being low key and enigmatic doesn’t mean he didn’t have his own foothold on the genre. Jay and Nas ran parralel but different races, simple as that
