My whole point is that the there aren't a lot of 90's rappers on their level so how could you say someone has a poor work ethic and lost when he outlived most of his peers. Let's not even get into the fact that Nas has one of the best and largest unreleased catalogues in rap. When was he lazy?

I think everybody mostly means branding. Jay-z and snoop created brand past music and are known worldwide for many things. Nas.... up until recently doesn't seem to be in the spotlight that much. That's not a bad thing, but he only released like what? One album this decade? Not really on the music scene like that. Has expanded musically outside of hip hop like everybody else. I know he got henny and a company but I think people want to see more from him. You see jay-z damn near everywhere, he was rumored to perform at even the superbowl(which he won't but still) and you can catch snoop doing some of everything too.

Nas stan reporting in.

The work ethic he's speaking on is not just the amount of albums released in a span of time (even though that's the one example he gave)... them times I was in high school... and it's clear to me why Jay-Z is above Nas commercially. In those times... let's say 1999-2003... look how many fukkin remixes Jay-Z was on... that were huge. Like c'mon... even Mya Best of Me... how many years did we have to hear that? Nas could have done these... but why not??? That's basically the difference in Jay fans and Nas fans... Jay fans like what everybody listening to... Nas fans like rap. So, he right. He appeared in more places that mattered to the short attention span, which is even worse today. That's why he won. We still waiting for Nas til this day.

What does commercially have to do with anything? Nas has released way more music/songs than Jay-Z. Nas has also appeared with more artists than Jay. Nas unreleased catalog is unmatched. He has what...like 500-600 songs that aren't on anything. The only artists that came close to his catalog of unreleased material was the Mobb, and even they were behind Nas output is hella consistent. You'd swear he was Mef or something

Again that's on people we can't be criticizing someone who is arguably the best to ever do it because he didn't sell us more products. He did his job he has been an amazing artist and successful at it that should be what matters. Snoop is a brand, Jay is a powerful endorser his celebrity is his brand unlike snoop whose character is his brand. Nas likes to play the background and up until his divorce people though he wasn't even caking like that then it came out that he had several businesses including the rock the bells festival at the time. He never branded it as Nas festival like Jay made in America. He doesn't care about that shyt. He has been more business oriented in the last decade but the artistry also slowed down. I can wait for the next album.

Right now you could play UNTITLED which was ahead of its time and speaks to today in a most relevant way and still be satisfied. Real art has no expiry date.

:what: Nas is consistently touring. He’s on tour right now as we speak. nikka got like a million business investments. Stores. Endorsements. And is killing Silicon Valley. Nas is always visible. He didn’t stop making music. He drops music or guest appearances every year since his last album. This has been his largest album gap but it’s not that serious.

Jay can be Hip Hop's greatest businessman/mogul/hustler and all of that, but when it comes to the pen and pad, rhymes, spitting, flow, lyrics, songs (frivolous mindless songs --- Jay excels at), Nas wins.

:rudy: You Nas stans let your emotions get in the way facts! Every one of Jay Z studio & collaborative albums have went platinum not to mention Jay Z has way more platinum and gold singles than Nas.. Plus lyrically. flow wise or rhymes Jay Z runs circles around Nas. And Jay Z don't need a pen and pad like Nas, because he creates his music straight from the dome.

Nas ain't or will never be on Jay Z's level period! :jawalrus:

Nas didn't oversaturate the music market like hov did because there was no need to.. :yeshrug: after a while jay burned himself out blueprint 3 was essentially trash... vol.3 was lackluster... nas accomplished a lot even behind the scenes he's sitting on investments and shyt. why is his work ethic being called into question.

Naw, not me. I don't stan nobody.

Vanilla Ice and MC Hammer went platinum too, you gon tell me their albums was classic too?

Sorry buddy. Nope!

There's nothing wrong with sitting down and taking time out to write your rhymes down. The pride in taking your time to write down your rhymes has been loss because a lot of nikkas have wanted to follow Jay's path with it. It's cool and nice that Jay can do that but there's nothing wrong with writing down your rhymes. I wish a lot more nikkas would do it; they'd probably be a lot better at making songs instead of trying to come off so "cool".

Jay has not and never will be on Nas' level lyrically. Nas runs laps around him. Nas is a better lyricist and MC.

You know what, whatever you say, bruh. Some nikkas get, some don't. fukk it.

Nas missing out on being on Reasonable Doubt to smoke weed in the projects :ahh:

Lol Nas my GOAT, but I don't know why people are acting offended, everybody that's been around Nas describes him as a laid back, kinda lazy savant.
