Pablo escaping from his prison lasted an entire episode in season 1. Chepe did that, ran with another crew and got GOT in 30 seconds.

But I think even though this season without Pablo was good. It goes to show even the show itself didn't really find the Cali season as intriguing or deep as Pablo's story.

They could of went deeper but didn't.
